I love Killer Klowns from Outer Space and Stephen King’s IT, but beyond those movies, killer clowns on film have usually been horrendous. The concept of evil clowns should be scary enough as it is, but it’s amazing how often filmmakers can’t seem to get it right and there have been many absolutely awful killer clown movies.

Stitches definitely breaks that mold. Filmed in Ireland, the movie was about a dead clown who comes back to life to exact revenge on the group of children responsible for his death. How does he come back? Apparently, one of the boys witnesses a bunch of clowns performing some sort of ritual at Stitches’ gravesite.

If you’re wondering, yes, this is a horror comedy. But it works so well because aside from the hilariously disturbing moments, there are some genuine scares as well. I highly recommend this one if you’ve been waiting to see a good recent killer clown movie.
