Who could forget when Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward teamed up in the iconic '90s monster horror flick Tremors? The film went on to become a cult classic, leading to multiple sequels, a TV series, and a loyal fan following. Now, it seems this beloved horror franchise may be preparing for a major comeback, with the original production team eager to bring it back to life.

In an April 2025 blog post, Stampede Entertainment, the production team that was behind Tremors, Tremors 2: Aftershocks, Tremors 3: Back to Perfection and Tremors 4: The Legend Begins, shared that they had regained the rights to the original script for the first Tremors movie and are now looking at potential new directions for the franchise.

Discussions include a possible "return-to-Perfection" sequel, along with some bold and outlandish ideas involving Graboids in new, unexpected settings. For those who are not fans of remakes, rest assured, Stampede Entertainment confirms that the potential upcoming film will not be a remake of the original Tremors. They have no plans to recreate the '90s classic with a new cast. The production company even states that they will not be revisiting their original script for Tremors 5, which has been a common question from fans.

If you recall, Stampede had shown interest in working on a fifth movie in the past but wasn’t given control over the movie’s story or direction, so they chose not to take credit as executive producers. The monster horror would still go on to be made without their involvement. The movie is titled Tremors 5: Bloodlines, and it was released in 2015.

That being said, it appears that Stampede's new Tremors movie will offer fans something fresh, exciting, and completely original, rather than recycling old ideas. The production company also mentioned that they're looking into the possibility of bringing Kevin Bacon back as his iconic character, Val, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Hopefully, things will work themselves out, and we will soon have the chance to see Val back in action, fighting Graboids once again. However, this is a positive update on the Tremors franchise overall, showing that the team is committed to giving fans something new while honoring the spirit of the original.

In the first Tremors movie, Bacon and Ward played two handymen who find themselves at the center of a nightmarish situation when their small desert town of Perfection, Nevada, is suddenly attacked by giant, underground creatures known as Graboids. Also in the cast were Finn Carter, Michael Gross, Reba McEntire, and many others. If you'd like to rewatch this film, you can currently do so on AMC+ with a subscription. You also have the option to rent or buy the movie via digital platforms.
