ID is presenting an all-new true crime docuseries in March, covering the fascinating case of Karen Read. A Body in the Snow: The Trial of Karen Read is a five-part series that will run across three nights on Investigation Discovery (ID).
In January of 2022 in Canton, Massachusetts, the body of Boston Police Officer John O’Keefe was discovered on an early January morning in the front yard of fellow officer Brian Albert. The night before, O’Keefe had planned to attend a party being thrown by Albert, and his girlfriend Karen Read had dropped him off.
The night before, the couple had gone bar-hopping with some friends, and Read claimed she had decided not to attend the party because she wasn’t feeling well. When she awoke the next morning, a snow storm had come through, and O’Keefe was not home, so she went searching for him.
She called two friends, who helped her search, and the three eventually found him unresponsive and lying in the snow. Read quickly became a suspect due to what authorities believed was a chaotic relationship between the two, suspecting that she had backed into O’Keefe with her vehicle, and then left him there.
There was some physical evidence that backed up that story, but there were also some suspicious actions on the part of Brian Albert and his sister-in-law Jennifer McCabe (who had helped Read search for O’Keefe). Notably, Albert quickly sold his house after the incident, and McCabe was found to have searched “how long to die in cold” in the early morning hours after the night in question.
ID hopes to answer many questions in A Body in the Snow: The Trial of Karen Read
Karen Read went to trial in 2024, but that ended in a mistrial, and a re-trial is slated to begin in April of this year. In the ID docuseries, viewers will learn more about the 2024 trial, about Read herself and hear from her legal team, who have always claimed there is something nefarious going on.
A Body in the Snow: The Trial of Karen Read will premiere on Monday, March 17 and Tuesday, March 18 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The one-hour finale episode will air on Wednesday, March 19 at the same time, and all episodes will be available to stream on Max.
