A new The Last Drive-In Christmas special and more holiday horror coming to Shudder in December

Happy holidays, horror fans! Shudder is putting lots of horror old and new under the tree this year, including some yuletide scary tales. Also available in December are a new holiday special with Joe Bob Briggs and Rare Exports.

Here are all of the additional films and series coming to Shudder this month:

December 1:

A Creature Was Stirring – Faith (Chrissy Metz) is a nurse who lives in large home with her daughter Charm (Annalise Basso). When a brother and sister seek shelter in the home during a winter storm, they discover that Charm has some horrifying character traits.

The Haunted Season: To Fire You Come at Last – From Kier-La Janisse (Woodlands Dark and Days Bewitched: A History of Folk Horror) comes this new series, featuring short form horror stories.  First up is To Fire You Come at Last, set in 17th-century England. As some men transport a coffin to its final resting place, scary things begin to happen.

Coming Home in the Dark – A teacher and his family are attacked by a seemingly random pair of drifters, but all is not what it seems. When the two begin accusing the teacher of horrendous acts, things get deadly.

Dead Calm – Sam Neill, Nicole Kidman and Billy Zane star in this tense thriller, about a couple who are tricked into letting a stranger aboard their boat.

Village of the Damned (remake) – Based on the book The Midwich Cuckoos, this is a remake of the 1960 film. When all of townspeople in Marin County, California become unconscious at the same time, they are relieved to reawaken in good health…or so it seems.

The Primevals  - A group of explorers choose to go yeti-hunting and end up abducted by aliens.

Shudder brings the tradition of ghostly Christmas tales in December

BBC Ghost Stories for ChristmasFrom 1971 to 1978, the BBC released a series of short films which were adaptations of short stories. The films were revived somewhat sporadically beginning in 2005. Now you can watch the Christmas-related episodes on Shudder.

Rare Exports – If you have never experienced this thrilling film, PLEASE watch it! “In the depths of the Korvatunturi mountains, 486 meters deep, lies the closes ever guarded secret of Christmas. The time has come to dig it up. This Christmas everyone will believe in Santa Claus.”

Body – Three bored young college students home for the holidays decide to shake things up by breaking into a mansion. Let’s just say things don’t go as planned.

December 3:

The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula finale – Who will be crowned season 666’s Super Monster??

December 9:

Neon Maniacs – When teens in San Francisco find that vicious monsters have taken up residence in a Golden State Bridge tower, they try to do the right thing. Unfortunately, law enforcement doesn’t believe them, and they try to take on the monsters themselves.

Post Mortem – This 2020 horror movie was Hungary’s Academy Awards entry for Best International Feature Film. Set at the end of World War I, it’s the story of Tomas, an Austrian soldier who had a strange vision during a near death experience.

Rabid – When a desperate young woman agrees to experimental plastic surgery, she starts to crave human blood. You can also watch Rabid’s “Just Joe Bob” episode on Shudder.

December 13:

Joe Bob’s Christmas Carnage premieres live. According to Shudder’s press release: “Snow is falling and the bodies are piling up for Joe Bob's Christmas Carnage, when Joe Bob and Darcy host two holiday horror flicks featuring so much bloodshed that Santa will think twice before coming down this chimney.”

December 15:

Joe Bob’s Christmas Carnage available to stream on demand.

T-Blockers – When parasitic creatures take over a small town, a young filmmaker discovers that she is the only one who can save the other people.

Satranic Panic – When a demon cult murders Max, his boyfriend Jay and Jay’s sister Aria take a road trip through Australia to seek revenge.

Carnage for Christmas – Lola is a true crime podcaster who goes home for Christmas. When she is confronted by a revenge-seeking ghost, Lola has to dig out the town’s deep dark secrets to stop the angry entity.

December 20:

The Creep Tapes (original series) – Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice, who created the Creep franchise are back with a tie-in series.

Last Straw (Shudder Exclusive) – When Nancy loses her cool and fires the staff at her father’s restaurant, she is left to work alone for the rest of the night. It turns out that she isn’t really alone, though…and that’s not a good thing.

December 31:

Horror’s Greatest season two (Shudder Original series) – Shudder’s popular series is back for another season of horror movie clips and commentary by notables in the industry.
