Hulu released five new episodes of American Horror Stories as part of the streaming service's annual "Huluween" event. The new episodes featured stars like Debby Ryan, Victor Garber, Henry Winkler, and Michael Imperioli.

For those unfamiliar, this show is a spinoff of the long-running anthology series that airs on FX. But instead of each season featuring a different story, every episode is unique. Below we've ranked the five newest episodes, which make up season 3B.

5. Leprechaun

"Leprechaun" played out like a rejected episode of Supernatural. It was always going to be a little tricky to make leprechauns scary. There's a reason we don't have tons of mainstream horror movies about them beyond the one cult franchise. And this episode doesn't even predominantly feature them. The leprechauns have unique lore, I guess, but the effects looked incredibly lazy. Overall this just felt like a dull heist episode with a mediocre twist. And a waste of June Squib.

4. Backrooms

Of all five new episodes, I found "Backrooms" to be the most disappointing. Anyone familiar with the online lore surrounding The Backrooms knows that there are countless ways this story could have played out, yet this episode doesn't really even seem to understand what makes The Backrooms so unnerving in the first place. It's always nice to see Michael Imperioli turn up, but even he couldn't save this one.

3. Clone

I'll be honest and say I did not enjoy "Clone" and the only reason it earned the third spot on this list is because "Leprechaun" was so bad and "Backrooms" a total disappointment. I give "Clone" slight credit for its silly twist ending. At least this episode tried to do something a little unique, but overall, it wasn't scary at all. Just another sci-fi story about AI and the people using that use it.

2. The Thing Under the Bed

Debby Ryan stars in this episode that provides its own unique take on the "monster under the bed" trope. It wasn't awful, but it's another episode that felt very familiar. I couldn't help but be reminded of Supernatural yet again with this one, like a plot that would fit into a monster-of-the-week show. Not a bad thing, just didn't wow me. I appreciated the bleak ending though, pretty much all of these episodes had a super dark ending and that's maybe the one saving grace.

1. X

As I mentioned, I found all five new episodes of American Horror Stories to be sorely lacking, but if I had to pick a favorite, it would definitely be "X." Mia Isaac was perfect in the lead role as Claire, a nurse who uncovers a horrific conspiracy at the hospital where she works. I loved the fact they chose to film this episode in black-and-white; stylistically, it looked great. And it was one of the only episodes that creeped me out. Points for featuring Henry Winkler.
