This week, horror fans get to watch two of this year's most acclaimed movies so far, Ryan Coogler's Sinners and The Ugly Stepsister. Also in theaters is the latest from David Cronenberg.

At home, you'll be able to watch recent releases like Companion and The Woman in the Yard if you didn't get to see them in theaters. On VOD, there's a new movie starring Ashley Greene (Twilight) and a horror-fantasy take on the story of Snow White.

Here's a list of the nine scary movie releases coming out this week and where you can watch them.

The Woman in the Yard
The Woman in the Yard | Blumhouse / Universal

The Woman in the Yard (VOD, Apr. 15)

What's worse than a persistent salesman knocking on your door? How about a mysterious spectral woman dressed in a black gown and matching veil who hunkers down in your front yard while repeatedly saying, "Today's the day!" I'd take the salesman over that any day.

Unfortunately for recently widowed Ramona (Danielle Deadwyler) and her two children, they don't have a say in the matter, and the woman's eerie refrain is just the start of her nightmarish tendencies. Blumhouse horror film The Woman in the Yard arrives on PVOD this week.

Call of the Void (VOD, Apr. 15)

Sticking to grief-stricken main characters, the latest movie from Gravitas Ventures is a cosmic horror movie about a woman dealing with her brother's tragic death.

Seeking solace and a quiet place to grieve, Moray plans a stay at a secluded mountainside retreat. But when she learns about a mysterious "hum" in the area, she meets a local professor studying what could be an example of an otherworldly phenomenon.

Sinners (Theaters, Apr. 18)

Sinners stars Michael B. Jordan as twins Smoke and Stack, siblings keen on returning to their hometown in the South for a fresh start. However, once they arrive, it becomes apparent that the place they used to know has drastically changed and is now inhabited by an aggressive nest of vampires. So far, Sinners has maintained a perfect 100% approval score on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics praising director Ryan Coogler for crafting a visual feast for the eyes.

The Ugly Stepsister
The Ugly Stepsister | Scanbox Entertainment

The Ugly Stepsister (Theaters, Apr. 18)

Pivoting to something different from psychological thrillers and vampire tales, The Ugly Stepsister is being touted as this year's The Substance. A brutal yet darkly funny reimagining of the classic Cinderella tale, this Norwegian movie centers on a young woman competing with her stepsister for the prince's attention.

She'll go to any length to change her appearance and make herself more appealing, including undergoing a brutal rhinoplasty and sewing in eyelashes. The Ugly Stepsister is supposedly so gross that it made someone vomit during its Sundance premiere.

Dead Mail
Dead Mail | Shudder

Dead Mail (Shudder, Apr. 18)

Dead Mail is the newest Shudder Original film, following an investigator searching for the sender of a mysterious lost letter. The movie starts with a bound man fleeing along a country road, barely managing to send a plea for help into a remote postal box before his assailant catches up. When post office worker Jasper finds the letter, he tries to follow up, and that's when he meets a strange man named Trent, who is determined to retrieve the note at any cost.

It Feeds (VOD, Apr. 18)

Twilight star Ashley Greene stars in this new horror movie about a young girl who claims to have an entity feeding on her. Greene plays a clairvoyant therapist with her own troubles, determined to save the young girl before it's too late. Shawn Ashmore also stars.

The Shrouds (Theater, Apr. 18)

Speaking of body horror, it doesn't get better than a new movie by the master of the subgenre himself, David Cronenberg. The Shrouds is the latest from Cronenberg, following a businessman who invents a strange new technology that allows the living to monitor the decaying process of the recently departed. Using this technology enables Karsh (Vincent Cassel) to see when a group of graverobbers desecrate his wife's grave, allowing him to track them down.

Sophie Thatcher as Iris in Companion
Sophie Thatcher as Iris in Companion | New Line Cinema / Warner Bros. Pictures

Companion (Max, Apr. 18)

Yellowjackets season 3 has wrapped, but while we wait for news on season 4, you can see what else Sophie Thatcher has been up to in Drew Hancock's sci-fi thriller Companion.

Thatcher plays Iris, a companion robot, on a weekend retreat with her boyfriend (Jack Quaid) and his friends. When she's forced to defend herself violently, Iris realizes that not everything is what it seems. Companion starts streaming exclusively on Max this Friday.

The Death of Snow White (Theaters, Apr. 18)

Another public domain horror movie hits (limited) theaters this week with The Death of Snow White, not to be confused with Disney's recent live-action movie starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot. This one follows a group of friends investigating the recent death of Snow White, discovering the darkness lurking beneath their magic kingdom.
