Jackknife

Stephen King's sons Joe Hill and Owen King both have a new story included in this collection. Hill's story, "Jackknife," is about an ostracized man named Dennis Lange whose reputation has suffered due to a scandal. Dennis accidentally wakes up something ancient by removing a jackknife from a sycamore tree.

Some of Hill's other works include "The Black Phone" and novels like Heart-Shaped Box and Horns.

The Indigo Room

Stephen Graham Jones returns with a new story about a middle manager and the horrors of the modern-day workplace. Jones is best known for his books The Only Good Indians and the The Indian Lake trilogy.

Night and Day in Misery

This story from Catriona Ward is about a mother staying in the same hotel room where her husband and son passed eight years before. As she tries to sleep in Room 17, she finds her dreams disturbed by visions and supernatural beings. Ward's most popular books include The Last House on Needless Street and Looking Glass Sound.

The Blanks

Coming off of his earlier book release from this year, Witchcraft for Wayward Girls, Hendrix's short story is all about an ominous island where children face off against something terrifying.

Letter Slot

Owen King's story is about the rising cost of living. It follows a teenager trying to take care of his mother. After dropping off a letter in which he paints a picture of his desperation, he receives a response asking for the name of someone he hates. The teen realizes he'd do anything for his mom, "but the true cost may be more than he's willing to pay."

The Shivers collection will be released on April 15.
