Anya Taylor-Johnson and Miles Teller are teaming up for an exciting new romantic action thriller from Apple TV+, which will be released on Valentine's Day 2025. But wait, why would a horror site be reporting on a romance? Judging by the official trailer for The Gorge, there's something very sinister at the heart of this film.

The trailer introduces the main characters Levi (Teller) and Drasa (Taylor-Johnson). They are elite snipers assigned to guard a mysterious and impenetrable gorge. Whatever is at the bottom of it is considered one of the most deadly secrets in the world. Just what could be so dangerous? Apparently, at the bottom of this seemingly endless gorge is an entrance to hell, and the trailer shows some suitably disturbing images.

It is fitting that The Gorge is directed by noted horror filmmaker Scott Derrickson, best known for films like The Black Phone, Sinister, and The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Zach Dean (The Tomorrow War) wrote the script.

We first meet Taylor-Johnson's character, Drasa, an assassin on a special assignment in an undisclosed location that will leave her in the dark for an entire year. Similarly, Teller's character is a sniper who receives his orders straight from Sigourney Weaver, who plays a character named Bartholomew.

For an entire year, Drasa and Levi are meant to be assigned to two separate towers, one on either side of the gorge. They have no outside communication, and they aren't even supposed to talk to one another. Their instructions are simple: Don't let anything in the gorge come out of it. It's revealed that it is a door to Hell, and they are posted right at the gate.

Despite the dark premise, The Gorge looks to have a surprisingly sweet heart as the trailer teases a slow-burning romance between its two leads, who must communicate via unconventional means like posterboard and carefully aimed gunshots—all the while trying to uncover the truth about what's hidden within.

The Gorge will start streaming exclusively on Apple TV+ beginning on February 14, 2025.
