Before The Last of Us returns, see Kaitlyn Dever in Hulu horror movie Stephen King called 'brilliant'

Kaitlyn Dever is having a great year with her hit Netflix series Apple Cider Vinegar, to be followed by a significant role in the upcoming second season of The Last of Us on HBO. Dever will play Abby in season 2, which, as any game fan will tell you, is an integral role in the next saga of Joel and Ellie's story.

But before The Last of Us season 2 premieres on April 13 and we get to meet Dever's version of Abby, there is plenty of time to check out one of her other projects, an excellent movie released on Hulu last year called No One Will Save You.

Even horror master Stephen King highly praised the film as "brilliant" and "daring." King commented on his now-deleted Twitter account, but you can see a screenshot of his post here.

Not only does the author say the film is excellent and suitably terrifying, but he also compares it favorably to an episode of The Twilight Zone, "The Invaders." If you've seen that episode, you likely have a sense of what the Hulu film is about.

In both stories, a woman finds herself pitted against aliens. No One Will Save You takes an already creepy episode of television and makes it downright horrifying and plenty claustrophobic as we watch Brynn basically become a captive in her own town due to this extraterrestrial threat.

Dever plays Brynn, a seamstress living in a small home in a secluded area. She's a loner, ostracized by the other residents of her small town. So when the aliens arrive, Brynn discovers she's one of the only ones who haven't potentially been taken over by these creatures already. With all of the electronics and electricity disabled, the only thing she can do is barricade herself in her home and fight for her survival.

The film is by writer and director Brian Duffield, whose previous credits include Love and Monsters and Spontaneous.

Critics had high praise for the movie, particularly Dever's performance, especially since her performance features very little dialogue, meaning she has to convey everything almost entirely through her physical movements and facial expressions.

In short, No One Will Save You might give The Last of Us fans a taste of the kind of dramatic and dark intensity Dever is capable of bringing to her work. She's an excellent actress who has been in several great projects over the years, such as the gripping Netflix series Unbelievable.
