- Tori Kelly as Meena
- Nick Kroll as Gunter
- Scarlett Johansson as Ash
- Taron Egerton as Johnny
- Garth Jennings as Miss Crawly
"Thriller" by Jackson is one of the most iconic songs of all time, so it seems like a very fitting way to reunite the Sing crew to honor a timeless pop culture moment.
The official synopsis for the film says it follows the New Moon Theatre gang in the aftermath of putting on a "spectacular version of Thriller,' and then making their way to a Halloween party to celebrate their success. Their celebration is dampened when they discover a mysterious ooze has infected all of the partygoers, turning everyone into dancing maniacs.
Sing: Thriller is based on Michael Jackson’s music video for "Thriller," with music and lyrics by Rod Temperton. Sing and Sing 2 director Garth Jennings returns to direct and write.
Regarding the new short, Jennings released a statement expressing his excitement, saying:
" I don’t know if it is possible to enjoy making anything as much as I have done while working on ‘Sing: Thriller.’ Our awesome cast and team of geniuses at Illumination have gone above and beyond to take one of the biggest hits of all time and concoct a new and very special treat for Halloween."
If you feel inspired to revisit Sing or Sing 2, the first movie is also streaming on Netflix, while the sequel is available to watch for free (with ads) via Amazon's Freevee service.
Sing: Thriller premieres on Wednesday, October 16, exclusively on Netflix. Set a reminder for yourself here.
