Blumhouse has a very cool way for Meta Quest headset owners to celebrate Friday the 13th this year. The Blumhouse Horrorverse launched in Meta Horizon on May 22, and if you haven’t checked it out yet, now is the perfect time.

Blumhouse, is, of course known for its roster of horror movies. Their first big hit was 2009’s Paranormal Activity, which became a franchise, along with additional franchises such as The Purge, Sinister and Insidious.

Later came Happy Deathday, M3GAN, and the revival of the Halloween franchise, beginning with 2018’s Halloween. They also launched a horror anthology series on Amazon Prime, called Welcome to the Blumhouse.

Blumhouse is great at creating viral content, such as the virtual army of dancing M3GANs that popped up in different locations in the months leading up to the film opening in theatres. Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights even featured M3GAN flash mobs that year.

What is The Blumhouse Horrorverse on Meta Quest all about?

Immerse yourself in the dark, creepy forest, where you will immediately recognize the equally creepy Blumhouse logo at the center. Once there, you can roleplay via themed elements and activities, all of which are based on the many terrifying Blumhouse stories we all know so well. It’s the perfect spot to socialize with like-minded friends and horror fans.

You can target practice in an area dedicated to The Purge, play a mini game centered around Wolf Man, and view exclusive Blumhouse content in a special screening area. Explore the other environments scattered throughout, dedicated to beloved Blumhouse films such as Wolf Man, M3GAN, Happy Death Day and The Black Phone.

When you finally tiptoe into the Blumhouse itself, you can participate in the Survival Lockdown game. Activate the game by pulling the Lockdown lever, and anyone in the house at that time will be assigned one of two roles: villain or victim. It’s the victims’ job to work together to end the lockdown by finding keycards. The villain, who will be assigned a Blumhouse character role like Babyface or M3GAN, must work to eliminate all of the victims before they can escape.

Meta Quest users can access the Blumhouse Horrorverse by visiting Meta Horizon here, or via the Meta Horizon mobile app.

Meta Horizon is free to Meta Quest headset owners, and can be used for community games, special events, and many other purposes. As stated in the press release: “With new worlds and quests launching all the time, there is always something new to do.”
