Let's rewind back to 2022 when the horror anime series Chainsaw Man made its debut. Based on Tatsuki Fujimoto’s hit Japanese manga, the series quickly gained worldwide popularity, captivating audiences with its stunning animation, intense action sequences, dark humor, and emotional depth.

After the first season finished its run in December 2022, fans were left wondering if the story would continue in a second installment. While a Chainsaw Man season 2 hadn't been confirmed, an anime feature film was announced instead. It's officially titled Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, and it's set to be released in U.S. theaters this fall. In this article, we've shortened the movie's title to just Chainsaw Man: The Movie.

MAPPA, the same animation studio behind the Chainsaw Man series, returned for the film. This studio is also behind the popular anime series Jujutsu Kaisen. Described as an animated dark fantasy action film, Chainsaw Man: The Movie was directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara and written by Hiroshi Seko. Yoshihara served as the action director on the animated series while Seko wrote the scripts for the episodes. With them returning for the film, fans can expect another visually captivating and action-packed experience.

The first season of the animated series centered around Denji, a financially struggling young man who forms a pact with a pet Devil named Pochita, merging their bodies and granting him the ability to transform parts of his body into chainsaws. Denji is then recruited by the Public Safety Devil Hunters, a government agency that fights devils threatening Japan. In this upcoming sequel film, the story continues to follow Denji, who is now a member of Special Division 4's Devil Hunters. After a date with his crush, Makima, Denji seeks shelter from the rain, where he encounters Reze, a girl who works at a café.
