Creep is back alongside 5 new scary movies this week, Nov. 11
By Mads Lennon
November is admittedly a slower month for horror titles as we come down from the highs of this past Halloween season, but thankfully there are still a few new things on the way, including the next chapter of the Creep franchise.
Melissa Barrera's new movie Your Monster will also become available on demand along with several other independent horror movies hitting VOD. One of this week's most anticipated is a found-footage movie from Jersey Shore star Jenni "JWOWW" Farley.
The Creep Tapes (Shudder, Nov. 15)
The third entry into the Creep franchise created by Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice will be a television series on Shudder and AMC+ instead of a new movie. But the basics of the story remain the same. The Creep Tapes introduces viewers to six new tapes, all found footage like the first two movies, each one documenting the enigmatic serial killer "Peachfuzz" (Duplass) tormenting six different victims that we didn't see in the films.
Your Monster (VOD, Nov. 12)
Scream star Melissa Barrera leads this charming romantic comedy about an actress struggling with a recent breakup and devastating news. Her life takes an even weirder turn when she discovers a terrifying but endearing monster living in her closet. If you missed seeing Your Monster in theaters, the film will be available to rent or purchase on VOD starting on Tuesday, November 12.
Devon (Screambox, Nov. 12)
Reality star Jenni "JWOWW" Farley (Jersey Shore) makes her directorial debut with this creepy found-footage horror movie that will stream on Screambox. Farley has been an outspoken horror fan for many years and expressed her excitment for this project via her social media. Devon follows parents searching for their daughter after she mysteriously disappeared from an asylum.
Do Not Open (VOD, Nov. 12)
Fangoria describes Brian Babarik's thriller film Do Not Open as a movie that "taps into the deep-seated fears of our modern tech-driven world." Coming to VOD under The Horror Collective label this week, Do Not Open follows a tech-addicted family who discover how nightmarish their reliance on technology can be when downloading an app takes a sinister turn.
Piper (VOD, Nov. 12)
A children's tale goes rogue in this dark fantasy horror film starring Elizabeth Hurley releasing this week. Hurley plays Liz, a mother who moves with her daughter Amy to a small town in Germany where they encounter the mysterious "Piper," an entity in an old legend. Piper punishes children for their parent's sins, so when Liz's past comes to light, it puts Amy in jeopardy.
Daft State (VOD, Nov. 12)
A psychological thriller about a man named Easton (Christopher Backus) when he feels his sanity tested and dark forces tempt him to hurt the ones he loves the most, including his wife and daughter. The film also stars Chilling Adventures of Sabrina's Skye P. Marshall and Jake T. Austin (The Wizards of Waverly Place).
