Shudder has announced a December release date for the sequel to its 2023 Original film Influencer. Titled Influencers, the sequel was written and directed by Kurtis David Harder, who also directed and co-wrote the original film.
*This recap of Influencer contains major spoilers.
Influencer was about a popular social media influencer named Madison, all set to take advantage of her status on a trip to Thailand with her boyfriend Ryan. Though she plans on documenting the dream vacation on social media, she instead ends up making the trip solo when Ryan backs out.
Sad and lonely, she is befriended by wild and crazy CW, who takes her to spots she would never have known about. When Madison’s passport is stolen, CW talks her into taking a trip to an island while she is waiting for the replacement document to arrive. The two travel by boat, and CW ends up leaving alone, abandoning Madison on the island (as it turns out, she had done to other women as well…though they are dead).
CW begins to pretend she is Madison, posting photos and videos wearing a blond wig. Things come to a head when Ryan unexpectedly shows up.

Influencers will begin streaming on Shudder on December 12th
Influencers picks up with CW living in France with her girlfriend Diane, who of course has no idea about CW’s murderous side. While on an anniversary trip, the couple encounter an influencer named Charlotte, who begins to suspect that something is up. “When CW acts on a violent impulse, the consequences spiral out of control, and as Diane begins to suspect the truth, CW’s carefully constructed life threatens to collapse around her.”
Viewers will also get to check in on Madison, whose life has changed drastically since the first film, and we can only hope that she and CW get to fight head to head by the end.
Cassandra Naud (who will appear in Mike Flanagan’s new series Carrie, based on Stephen King’s novel) returns as the conniving CW, and according to the cast list, so does Emily Tennant (Zoe.mp4)as Madison. Influencers also features Georgina Campbell (Barbarian), Lisa Delamar (Survive), Veronica Long (Roommate Regret), Jonathan Whitesell (Happy Face) and Dylan Playfair (Descendants 3).
Influencers received some pretty positive reviews after making its debut at Fantasia, with Bloody Disgusting’s Joe Lipsett proclaiming that it’s “a great sequel that takes the series in a fun, satirical, and often deliciously mean new direction.”
