Damien Leone confirms that Terrifier 4 will conclude the bloody slasher franchise

Happy birthday to Terrifier creator Damien Leone! In honor of this special occasion, the filmmaker took to X to share a special gift with his fans. The script for Terrifier 4 is officially in the works!

Leone shared a photo of the cover page, complete with some blood splatter. There's not much to go on just yet, but Leone teases that the fourth film in the slasher franchise starring David Howard Thornton as the menacing Art the Clown will be the "most epic, thrilling, nasty, horrifying, emotional and utterly satisfying conclusion."

After Terrifier 3 premiered in theaters last year, Leone mentioned wanting to end the story of Art with the fourth or fifth film. At the time, it sounded like the fourth movie would be the last, though he indicated a fifth one could be necessary if he couldn't finish telling the complete story in just one film. Now it appears that Leone is prepping Terrifier 4 to be Art's final bow.

He previously told DiscussingFilm that he didn't have more than another two movies in him, and it sounded like he wanted to make Terrifier 4 and 5. But if he's labeling the fourth script as the "conclusion" then that would indicate things will end sooner rather than later.

But that's not all. In the post, the director also shared that we would finally learn more about Art's origins, something that he's kept frustratingly in the dark across all three films despite the clown's seemingly immortal status.

All of that being said, it looks like Leone is still early in the writing process, so if the story ends up being too epic, he might end up cutting the movie into two films after all.

Leone first introduced Art the Clown in a short film titled The 9th Circle, which later ended up in his anthology flick All Hallow's Eve. The character would get his own feature film in 2016, followed by the supersized sequel Terrifier 2 in 2022. Last year, Art returned to terrorize final girl Sienna Shaw (Lauren LaVera) during the Christmas holidays in Terrifier 3. It'll be interesting to see where the story heads next.

At the end of the third film, Sienna managed to temporarily defeat the killer clown and kill Victoria, whose remains created a portal to Hell. Unfortunately, Art escaped before Sienna could fully defeat him but we know that she's intent on going after him and finding a way to save her cousin, Gabbie, who is sucked into the portal.

Currently, the first two Terrifier films are streaming on Prime Video, Peacock, and Screambox. Terrifier 3 is available to rent or buy digitally and physically.
