Most of us have probably heard of Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Rolling Road Show’s regular showings of Jaws “on the water.” The events are shown on a big screen, while viewers float on rafts or inner tubes. Of course, 2025 is the 50 year anniversary of Jaws, so Alamo has something even bigger and better planned.
As part of their Great Bites celebration of creature features, Alamo Drafthouse will kick things off with Jaws on the Water, along with a special screening of Jaws in Martha’s Vineyard, featuring a live orchestra.
But there was a special event planned for Great Bites this year, and it involved IFC Films’ and Shudder’s upcoming shark horror movie Dangerous Animals.
On May 31st at Volente Beach in Austin, over 400 enthusiastic fans were present for Dangerous Animals’ Texas premiere showing. The fans had a blast participating in beachside activities, including food and drinks and the chance to float on the lake on specially branded inner tubes, all while watching Dangerous Animals on a very big screen.
Present at the event were the film’s director Sean Byrne and star Hassie Harrison (Yellowstone), who answered questions in a live Q & A session that was moderated by Richard Whittaker from the Austin Chronicle. An extended intro to Dangerous Animals was also shown.
In Dangerous Animals, Harrison appears as Zephyr, a surfer who is kidnapped by a serial killer obsessed with sharks. When Zephyr is imprisoned on the killer’s boat, she has to fight for her life and plan an escape before she is fed to sharks during the man’s bloody ritual.

Dangerous Animals will open in theatres on June 6, and will likely head to Shudder soon thereafter.
Jaws on the Water will celebrate the iconic film’s 50th anniversary on June 7, June 21, July 12 and July 26. Tickets are $35, and attendees will be treated to watching everyone’s favorite summer horror movie on a massive inflatable screen while lounging in the water in inner tubes. Adding to the thrills are scuba divers who swim beneath the audience, occasionally tugging on someone’s toes. Towards the end of Jaws, there will be “an epic finale that coincides with a particularly explosive moment in the film.”
For fans who are more comfortable on dry land, Alamo Drafthouse will present its signature Jaws Movie Party at locations nationwide. There, participants can enter contests and get fun props such as drink floaties and shark fin hats. Plus, there will be an exclusive menu tied in with the Jaws theme.
For those wanting even more shark-related/Jaws-inspired viewing, Alamo will present Piranha, The Shallows, Alligator. Grizzly and Deep Blue Sea July 1st to July 30th.
July 21st is the date for the Jaws in Concert event, during which the Cape Cod Symphony will perform the film’s score, accompanying a screening of Jaws. Tickets can be purchased here.
