Avenging serial killer Dexter Morgan is looking awfully smug and bemused in the first official teaser for upcoming sequel series Dexter: Resurrection. The short video shows star Michael C. Hall reading a newspaper with a bold headline that reads, "Dexter Morgan Is Dead." But as we know, he isn't.
Paramount+ with Showtime is finally starting to market the new original series, revealing that it will debut this July with a special two-episode premiere. Check out the video below.
Dexter: Resurrection is the fourth official Dexter series. After the original eight-season show came to an end, Paramount+ with Showtime aired the revival show, Dexter: New Blood, in 2021, followed by prequel series Dexter: Original Sin in late 2024 to 2025. The upcoming series takes place after Dexter: New Blood.
The last time we saw Hall as Dexter, his identity as the Bay Harbor Butcher had been exposed and he'd supposedly been shot dead by his son, Harrison (Jack Alcott). However, the prequel show revealed that Dexter survived. Dexter: Original Sin is framed like Dexter is reliving his memories as his life flashes before his eyes in the hospital recovering from the gunshot wound.
Based on the new teaser for Dexter: Resurrection, it seems like we can assume Dexter will fake his death, going along with the reporting so he can slip away and start a new life somewhere else.
This continuation picks up just weeks after the Dexter: New Blood finale. Having narrowly avoided death, Dexter wakes up from a coma and finds that his son has disappeared without a trace. Wanting to fix their relationship, Dexter journeys to New York City to try and find Harrison and repair their relationship. But there are plenty of obstacles ahead for Dexter to contend with, such as Angel Batista's (David Zayas) arrival and his questions for Dexter concerning his murderous past.
"As father and son navigate their own darkness in the city that never sleeps, they soon find themselves deeper than they ever imagined – and that the only way out is together," reads the synopsis.

Dexter: Resurrection features an exciting cast. Alongside returning actors like Hall, Batista, and James Remar as Harry Morgan, the upcoming series also boasts a talented roster of recognizable faces such as Uma Thurman, Peter Dinklage, Krysten Ritter, Eric Stonestreet, Neil Patrick Harris, David Dastmalchian, and more.
Original Dexter showrunner and executive producer Clyde Phillips has also returned to helm the sequel series, which is currently in production in New York.
The first two episodes will drop on Friday, July 11, on the streaming app, and then the show will make its on-air debut on Sunday, July 13.
