The upcoming Evil Dead film directed by Infested director Sébastien Vaniček has finally started casting! Evil Dead Burn will star a couple of Netflix stars, including Wednesday's Hunter Doohan and The Night Agent vet Luciane Buchanan (via Deadline). Horror fans may also recognize actress Tandi Wright, who played Mia Goth's on-screen mother in Pearl.

Details about the film and its characters remain under wraps at this time, but we can expect the Deadites to return and terrorize these new cast members, I'm sure. Evil Dead Burn has been of particular interest to fans of the long-running franchise started in 1981 with the Bruce Campbell-led The Evil Dead.

Original director Sam Raimi chose Vaniček to direct this film after seeing Infested, a particularly tense and mean-spirited creature feature about killer spiders. Needless to say, he's well-suited for the role and could deliver us the scariest Evil Dead to date.

Evil Dead Burn is currently slated to debut in theaters on July 24, 2026. It is a New Line Cinemas project, releasing through Warner Bros. Pictures. Sony will handle the international distribution.

Doohan is best known for playing Tyler Galpin in season 1 of Wednesday. By the end of season 1 (SPOILER!) Tyler is revealed to be the Hyde monster and escorted to a special facility. But early previews for the upcoming second season (part 1 premieres on August 6) tease his return. He also received praise for his role in the Showtime series Your Honor starring Bryan Cranston. Some of his other notable projects include Daredevil: Born Again and the Apple TV+ series Truth Be Told.

The Night Agent star Buchanan played Rose on the Netflix action series, but appeared to be written off the show at the end of season 2 when she love interest Peter broke up. Next, Buchanan will appear alongside Jason Momoa in the Apple TV+ series Chief of War. And the third cast member announced for Evil Dead Burn, Tandi Wright, played Pearl's mother, Ruth, in the X prequel film Pearl.

The last Evil Dead movie released was the 2023 film Evil Dead Rise from writer and director Lee Cronin, who will next adapt a new version of The Mummy for Blumhouse. Cronin's take took the action to an apartment complex setting, creating a terrifyingly claustrophobic atmosphere as the Deadites are soon unleashed on a family who must fight for their lives when their mom (Alyssa Sutherland) is possessed and intent on killing them.

Deadline also previously reported that Francis Galluppi would be writing and directing a new Evil Dead for Sam Raimi's Ghost House Pictures banner, but there haven't been any updates on that project in a while, and may not be until Evil Dead Burn is complete.
