Black Ink Presents has announced a unique way to watch 1981’s The Evil Dead, which will start in September. Evil Dead in Concert will give fans the unique opportunity to view the cult classic on a “large HD cinema screen” while the entire original film score by Joe LoDuca is performed by a live ensemble.

Black Ink Presents’ CEO John Kinsner, who is a huge fan or horror movies promises attendees a fantastic experience, adding that “it’s not every day you get to watch someone chainsaw a demon while a live ensemble performs.”

Evil Dead in Concert will be presented in nearly 50 cities in fall of 2025, and will include a three night event during Halloween in Los Angeles.

On the off-chance that someone reading this is unfamiliar with The Evil Dead, it’s about five college friends who decide to take a vacation in a cabin deep in the woods (never a good idea). While in said cabin, they discover a strange book called the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis (or Book of the Dead) in the basement. So, naturally, they recite the incantation found in the creepy book, and accidently release an evil force.

The friends soon find themselves quite literally fighting for their lives, and some even return from the dead. Who can forget that truly iconic tree roots scene, am I right?

The Evil Dead almost faded into oblivion until a famous author spoke up

The little low-budget film, with no big stars attached, saw a boost in attendance when Stephen King referred to it as “the most ferociously original horror film of 1982.”

Film studios such as Paramount Pictures felt The Evil Dead was just too intense and gory andpassed on distributing it, but after Stephen King lauded it, New Line Cinema picked the film up, and the rest is horror history.

Written and directed by Sam Raimi, The Evil Dead is filled with his signature over-the-top, extremely gooey gore and some innovative (for its time) special effects. It stars Bruce Campbell as the chainsaw-wielding Ash.

Black Ink Presents has mounted similar productions in the past, including live soundtrack performances alongside films such as Labyrinth, Ghostbusters, Batman, Rocketman, La La Land and The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Evil Dead in Concert will make its debut on September 22 in Buffalo, New York. It then moves across the United States, with the final performance scheduled for November 21 in Charlotte, North Carolina. For locations, dates and tickets, visit the website here.
