Death returns to stalk its next victims this May in the first Final Destination film in over a decade. Warner Bros. has shared the official teaser trailer for Final Destination: Bloodlines, directed by Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky.
In a clever twist on the typical teaser-trailer format, WB shared a clip from the movie, one that showcases what appears to be yet another memorable death sequence in a franchise full of them. After all, this is the film series that scared an entire generation away from logging trucks, roller coasters, and tanning beds. It looks like we can add tattoo and piercing studios to that list.
Actor Richard Harmon plays a tattoo artist who, through a series of unfortunate incidents, ends up dangling above a fire by a chain hooked through his nose ring, ending with a potentially fatal fall into the hungry flames below.
Bloodlines is written by Scream VI and Abigail scribe Guy Busick alongside Lori Evans Taylor, with a story by Jon Watts, Busick, and Taylor. Apart from Harmon, the film stars Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, Owen Patrick Joyner, Brec Bassinger, Rya Kihlstedt, and Anna Lore.
The late Tony Todd has also been confirmed to reprise his role as William Bludworth, a funeral home director who is one of the only people knowledgeable about Death and its terrifying design.
Seeing as the last Final Destination was released in 2011, it's been a long time coming for this particular franchise to return.
Final Destination 5 ended with a clever tie-in to the original 2000 film and it sounds like Bloodlines could also go in that direction based on the synopsis, which reads: "Plagued by a violent recurring nightmare, college student Stefanie (Kaitlyn Santa Juana) heads home to track down the one person who might be able to break the cycle and save her family from the grisly demise that inevitably awaits them all."
Final Destination: Bloodlines will be released in theaters and IMAX on May 16.
