Major spoilers ahead for From season 3 up to episode 9
The second-to-last episode of From season 3 recently aired, and already fans are going wild with new theories and ideas after that shocking cliffhanger. To recap, the end of season 3 episode 9, "Revelations: Chapter One," seemingly indicates that Tabitha and Miranda are the same person.
Tabitha hugs Victor, triggering a vivid flashback wherein we see Miranda leaving her two children, a young Victor and Eloise, to go into the woods and attempt to escape via the faraway tree. Unfortunately for Miranda, the monster dubbed "Smiley" intervenes and kills her.
While the script doesn't come right out and say, "Tabitha and Miranda are the same person," it heavily implies it. Why else would Tabitha get a vision showing Miranda's final moments? Her previous "visions" have only ever featured her and her connections to the town, so it stands to reason that she's seeing Miranda's perspective because they share a legitimate connection.
It would also explain why Henry had an identical bracelet to the one that Tabitha made for Jim because her past self, Miranda, made the same one for Henry.
But does the math make sense? I believe it does.
From premiered in 2022, so we can presume the series takes place then or at least in modern times. Tabitha is supposedly around 40 years old. Miranda was only about 30 when she died. Victor was 10 and has lived in the town for over 40 years, meaning he's now in his 50s. So, yes, in short, the math does check out. After Miranda died sometime in the late 1970s, Tabitha was born. Miranda could have been reincarnated as Tabitha. That's why she inevitably returns to the town. She was always destined to go back.
And if that's true, then it stands to reason that other characters might also be reincarnated versions of people from the past. Maybe many of the citizens Victor knew and mourned from his childhood are back in town and he doesn't even know it. Some fans believe Jade, who is also about 40, could be a reincarnated version of a past character, like Christopher. What about Donna? Boyd? It calls everything we thought we knew about the town into question. If Boyd is reincarnated, maybe the identity of his previous self explains why the monsters are so intent on torturing him, specifically.
It's also tough not to compare this to the show Dark, a show where virtually everyone is a different version of someone else, but that gets super complicated fast.
Hopefully we'll get more definitive answers in the season 3 finale airing this Sunday, November 24.
