Goosebumps: The Vanishing gets spooky teaser and January 2025 release on Disney+

In February 2024, the horror anthology series Goosebumps was renewed for a second season, which would have a different cast and storyline. Now, we've just learned that the second installment is titled Goosebumps: The Vanishing and it will be released on Disney+ and Hulu early next year. The exact release date for when all eight episodes of the horror series will drop is Friday, Jan. 10, 2025.

Goosebumps is a supernatural horror series developed by Rob Letterman and Nicholas Stoller and produced by Sony Pictures Television. Additionally, it's based on R.L. Stine's popular horror book series of the same name, aka one of the bestselling book series of all time.

The first season premiered on Disney+ and Hulu back in October 2023 and was a hit with critics and viewers alike. Many praised the series for its story, visuals, cinematography, writing, acting, etc. It focused on a group of high schoolers coming together to investigate the tragic passing of a teen who died three decades earlier.

Now, with Goosebumps: The Vanishing, the second season brings an entirely new mystery. The story centers around fraternal twins Cece and Devin Brewer, who are sent to spend the summer with their recently divorced dad in Gravesend, Brooklyn. Shortly after they arrive, they discover that a threat is brewing and that dark secrets are among them. They then find themselves, along with their three friends, entangled in a mystery involving four teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994.

Jayden Bartels (Side Hustle) and Sam McCarthy (Dead to Me, Condor) portray the roles of Cece and Devin Brewer. Emmy Award nominee David Schwimmer, who is best known for starring as Ross Geller in the hit comedy sitcom Friends, plays Anthony Brewer, Cece and Devin's father, who is a "former botany professor who has immersed himself in science and mystery."

The rest of the main cast is made up of Ana Ortiz (Jen), Elijah M. Cooper (CJ,) Galilea La Salvia (Frankie), and Francesca Noel (Alex). The recurring cast includes Arjun Athalye (Sameer), Eloise Payet (Hannah), Christopher Paul Richards (Matty), Kyra Tantao (Nicole), Stony Blyden (Trey), and Sakina Jaffrey (Ramona).

The second season is said to have pulled elements from some of the popular novels in the Goosebumps book series, such as the books Stay Out of the Basement, The Haunted Car, Monster Blood, The Girl Who Cried Monster, The Ghost Next Door, Welcome to Camp Nightmare and more.
