It has been a great year for Grotesquerie star Nicholas Alexander Chavez. Fresh off of roles in two Ryan Murphy projects, including Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, Chavez has been cast in next year's highly anticipated I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel, reports Deadline.

The news comes with a few other casting additions that include Lola Tung, Austin Nicholas, and Gabbriette. The four newcomers will join a cast that includes Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, and Sarah Pidgeon. Camila Mendes was previously set to star but had to exit the project due to scheduling conflicts.

Apart from the above cast members, original star Freddie Prinze Jr. is also set to return and reprise his role as Ray Bronson. He starred in both the 1997 film and its 1998 sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Another actress from the first two movies, Jennifer Love Hewitt, is also in talks to return for the new one, though that hasn't yet been confirmed.

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) will direct the new film, which Sony currently has set for release in July 2025.

There haven't been any plot details shared about what the next movie will be about, but Robinson previously confirmed that the next movie will not retcon I Still Know What You Did Last Summer which means we should find out what happened to Ray and Julie when the sequel ended with the killer yanking Julie under the bed.

There have been three I Know What You Did Last Summer movies thus far, the original 1997 movie based on Lois Duncan's novel of the same name, followed by the 1998 sequel, and a third direct-to-video film that introduces new characters. Amazon also released a short-lived slasher series based on the book in 2021.

I Know What You Did Last Summer will be released theatrically on July 18, 2025. Stay tuned to 1428 Elm for more details and updates on the movie.
