HBO unveils first look images of upcoming original horror series It: Welcome to Derry
Get ready to face your fears! HBO has just released the first look images from the highly anticipated original horror series It: Welcome to Derry. It's time to dive into the dark and twisted world of Derry, the eerie town that introduced us to the shape-shifting evil entity Pennywise. The new series promises to explore the dark secrets lurking beneath its surface.
This nine-episode show serves as a prequel to the supernatural horror films It (2017) and It Chapter Two (2019) and is based on Stephen King's popular 1986 horror novel It. It comes from Warner Bros. Television and was developed by Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs. Andy helmed four episodes in the series. In addition, Jason wrote the script for the first episode and serves as co-showrunner with Brad Caleb Kane.
The Muschiettis, Fuchs, Kane, David Coatsworth, Bill Skarsgård, Shelley Meals, Roy Lee, and Dan Lin are also signed on as executive producers. An official release date hasn't been set yet, but the horror series is confirmed to come out sometime in 2025. It will air on HBO as well as stream on Max.
A detailed plot has not been revealed either, but the story will take place in the '60s and see Pennywise terrorize the townspeople of Derry. Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Stephen Rider, Madeleine Stowe, Rudy Mancuso, and Bill Skarsgård make up the main cast. Yes, Skarsgård reprises his role as Pennywise the Dancing Clown from It and It Chapter Two in the series.
