Terrifying new horror anthology series Hell Motel is coming to Shudder this June, one that pits true crime obsessives against a dangerous killer.

The setting is Cold River Motel, the former site of a 30-year-old unsolved mass murder related to Satanism. All these years later, history begins to repeat when the 10 invitees suddenly become fodder for a deranged murderer, with the kills becoming increasingly more gruesome with each slice of the knife.

Fans of the Slasher series should consider Hell Motel a must-watch, as it was made by the same team, Aaron Martin and Ian Carpenter. The upcoming eight-episode first season stars Emmy Award-winner Eric McCormack (Will & Grace) and debuts with two episodes on Tuesday, June 17.

While McCormack is typically known for his comedic roles, he also delivered an iconic turn in Slasher: Ripper. He was eager to work with Martin and Carpenter again.

This particular tale is a fun and meta way of enticing horror fans to delve into the story since there are plenty of real-life true crime lovers and horror enthusiasts who gladly stay at haunted locations. Hell Motel imagines what would happen if an old killer returned to the scene of the crime.

Apart from McCormack, who plays the hotel's sinister chef Hemmingway, the series also stars Paula Brancati as a former scream queen actress named Paige, and Shaun Benson as a "new-age medium." Additional characters include true crime writer Blake (Atticus Mitchell), an artist named Kawayan (Emmanuel Kabongo), a true crime academic (Jim Watson), and a hybristophilic flight attendant (Genevieve DeGraves). Canadian drag queen Icesis Couture also makes a guest appearance.

Hell Motel is just one of many exciting projects coming soon to Shudder in celebration of the streamer's 10-year anniversary and ongoing year-long event, Shudder 10.

Hell Motel debuts on June 17 exclusively on Shudder and AMC+.
