Clown in a Cornfield has become one of the most anticipated horror movies of the year, as the teen slasher is based on a series of already-popular books and received positive buzz from its South by Southwest premiere this March. Now, avid fans of Adam Cesare's novels can see the movie a week before anyone else if they happen to live in a town with a participating drive-in theater.
Variety exclusively reported that Clown in a Cornfield will play exclusively at multiple drive-ins throughout the United States during the weekend of May 2. These theaters include participating chains Four Brothers, Galaxy, and West Wind.

The R-rated slasher comes from writer/director Eli Craig and co-writer Carter Blanchard. Teenage Quinn (Katie Douglas) and her father, Dr. Maybrook (Aaron Abrams), relocate to the small midwestern town Kettle Springs for a fresh start after the death of Quinn's mother.
Upon arrival, they learn that the town is suffering from economic hardship after the town's syrup factory, a primary place of employment, mysteriously burns down Tensions rise amid the townsfolk, and from the chaos rises Frendo the Clown, a real-life version of the factory's mascot who starts slaying residents. Kevin Durand (Abigail), Carson MacCormac (Luckiest Girl Alive), and Will Sasso (Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage) also star.
The movie is based on Cesare's Bram Stoker Award-winning 2020 novel. He followed it up with Clown in a Cornfield 2: Frendo Lives and Clown in a Cornfield 3: The Church of Frendo.
