Horror's Greatest season 2 features episodes on space horror, animal attacks, and more
By Mads Lennon
Shudder just shared a teaser for the upcoming second season of Horror's Greatest, a documentary-style series that delves into some of the most beloved horror films of all time with several of the genre's most notable filmmakers here to break down iconic scenes and scares.
In season 2, fans can expect to see episodes dedicated to everything from creature features to outer space, specifically the five new episodes are titled, "Animal Attacks," "Killer Dates," "Film Scores," "Hidden Gems," and "Space Horror."
Just like in the first season, season 2 will invite several notable people from the genre and they will discuss a specific theme for each episode. The "Animal Attacks" installment includes discussions about movies like Nope and Cocaine Bear, while the "Film Scores" episode highlights Jaws. Other movies that will be discussed in the second season include The Exorcist, Halloween, Rosemary's Baby, The Craft, Jennifer's Body, It Follows, Ready or Not, Under the Skin, and many, many others.
I'm particularly looking forward to the "Under the Gems" episode, which is bound to introduce to me to movies I might have missed the first time around. My watchlist increased exponentially after the first season and I'm excited to have that happen again when season 2 airs.
As shown in the teaser, we can expect guests like Joe Hill, Kate Siegel, Tananarive Due , Jenn Wexler, David Dastmachian, and many other filmmakers, actors, writers, and creators to participate in the latest batch of episodes.
In season 1, guests got to dissect horror tropes and cliches, horror comedies, Japanese horror, and the many Stephen King adaptations in existence. I recommend going back and watching it again, especially if you're ever feeling like you need new movies to watch that you might have missed in the past.
The second season premieres on Dec. 31, with new episodes releasing throughout January on Shudder and AMC+. If you don't have a Shudder subscription yet, now is the time to get one! You can revisit or watch Horror's Greatest season 1 for the first time while waiting for new episodes to drop.
