Amazon has a dark new horror-action series coming this April, featuring Kevin Bacon in the lead role as a revived bounty hunter assigned to work for the Devil. The streamer just released a full-length trailer brimming with campy demonic violence, bloodshed, and several f-bombs. The Bondsman might be the perfect show for anyone missing The Boys or Evil Dead. Watch the official red-band trailer above.

According to the Prime Video description, Bacon's character, Hub Halloran, was a real sinner in life before he bit the dust. Something he did before shuffling off the mortal coil sent him straight to Hell, and his only path toward redemption is to trap and kill escaped demons. As he prowls the earth for the sulfur-reeking baddies, Hub slowly learns what happened in his life to set him on this fire-and-brimstone-laden road. There's a mention of country music in there so maybe the show plans to torment the audience a little bit, too. Kidding.

The White Lotus alum Jolene Purdy plays Hub's supervisor. Midge is in charge of keeping him in line as he handles his assigned duties. She makes it clear that if he doesn't do as he's told, he'll go straight back to Hell. The biggest rule is this: if he fails to process any of the demons assigned to him, he will be terminated. And if he has a problem with that, he can contact the hotline (a 1-900 number that costs 10 dollars per minute, "What do you expect? It's Hell!").

Apart from giving us our first look at Bacon killing a bunch of demons, the trailer also showcases Beth Grant's (Mayfair Witches) role as Kitty Halloran, a woman I'm assuming to be Hub's mother. Hub's estranged family will be a significant part of the show. Maxwell Jenkins (Arcadian), Jennifer Nettles (The Exorcist), and Damon Herriman (Justified) also star.

The Bondsman is the latest collaboration between Blumhouse Television and Amazon, the partnership that also gave us the hit-or-miss Welcome to Blumhouse film series and shows like The Horror of Dolores Roach. The Bondsman looks more promising than its predecessors, so I have high expectations for the upcoming series. If anything, the trailer teases plenty of demon goop and gore, which should make for an entertaining watch, at the very least.

All eight episodes of The Bondsman will come out at the same time on Thursday, April 3, exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
