2024 delivered an incredible lineup of horror films, including A Quiet Place: Day One, Abigail, Alien: Romulus, Heretic, MaXXXine, Trap, Smile 2, The Substance and Nosferatu. Yet, one movie from last year truly rose above the rest. That film is Longlegs, starring Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage. After leaving theaters, fans eagerly waited for its arrival on streaming. Now, that day is finally here.
Longlegs is now available to stream, but not for everyone. On Jan. 8, 2025, the smash-hit horror film became available to watch on Prime Video but only in select locations. Those locations are Prime Video in the U.K. and Ireland. With only these two locations having access at the moment, this leaves fans outside those regions in suspense. They're stuck having to resort to alternative methods to watch the film.
For example, the only way people in the U.S. can watch Longlegs is by renting or buying it on digital platforms. As of Jan. 27, U.S. viewers can rent this film on Prime Video, Google Play, Fandango at Home, or YouTube for $5.99 before taxes. If they would rather purchase the movie, they're able to do so on these same platforms at various prices. If they want to buy Longlegs through Prime Video or Fandango at Home, they're looking at a cost of $7.99 before taxes. When it comes to purchasing the horror flick through YouTube or Google Play, the price is $19.99 before taxes for U.S. viewers.
Longlegs is expected to eventually stream on Hulu in the U.S.
While a U.S. streaming release date for Longlegs hasn't been set yet, it is expected to arrive on Hulu eventually. This is due to the movie's distributor, Neon, having an exclusive multi-year output deal with Hulu, where all of its upcoming films will be available to stream exclusively on Hulu after their theatrical releases. For example, a couple of Neon horror movies from last year were eventually released on Hulu, like Immaculate, Cuckoo and Handling the Undead.
It took about four to six months after their theatrical releases for these movies to make their way to Hulu. If we were to look at Longlegs and give it the same timeframe, it should have already been available on the platform by now. The horror flick was released in theaters back in July 2024. Four to six months later, the potential Hulu release date would've been between November 2024 and January 2025.
November and December have come and gone without Longlegs on Hulu, and now we're already nearing the end of January with still no sign of its streaming release. There's a rumor going around that the horror film will be released on Hulu in February 2025, but there's no concrete evidence to confirm this just yet.
Hulu has already released its full list of shows and movies coming to its platform next month, but Longlegs was not included. However, sometimes streamers omit big releases from its lists because they want to make a big announcement instead. So, there’s still a chance Longlegs could drop unexpectedly on Hulu in February, and fans may have to keep an eye out for an official announcement.
It's unclear why Longlegs hasn't been given a U.S. streaming release date yet, especially since it's no longer in theaters. But all we can do for now is stay patient and hope the streaming release date is announced soon!
Here's the movie's logline via the Longlegs official website:
"In pursuit of a serial killer, an FBI agent uncovers a series of occult clues that she must solve to end his terrifying killing spree."
Monroe stars as FBI agent, Lee Harker, while Cage plays the role of the titular character, Longlegs. Blair Underwood, Alicia Witt, Kiernan Shipka, Jason Day, Peter James Bryant, and other talented actors are also in the cast.
