Filming for Scream 7 got underway earlier this month, and casting news continues to trickle in. Most recently, Deadline confirmed that morning talk show host Mark Consuelos has joined, although details regarding his character are being kept under wraps.
But that hasn't stopped rumors and speculation from circulating online. The rumor mill is ever-churning, saying that Consuelos might be playing a character devised as a rival to Gale Weathers. Note that this rumor stems from unverified sources on social media and is, so far, completely unsubstantiated. Courteney Cox previously confirmed her return alongside Neve Campbell, who reprises her role as final girl Sidney Prescott.
Consuelos is best known for co-hosting Live with Kelly and Mark alongside his wife, Kelly Ripa. He started his career as an actor on the soap opera All My Children. Since then, he's starred in TV series like Riverdale and The Girls on the Bus. He also voices a character on the Disney animated series Primos.

His casting is just the latest in a long line of announcements. Joel McHale recently joined the cast as Sidney's husband, Mark Evans. Patrick Dempsey previously played Sidney's love interest, a character also named Mark, so it's a little perplexing why the writers chose to give McHale's character the same name.
Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding will return as the Meeks-Martin twins, Mindy and Chad. Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera will not be back as sisters Tara and Sam Carpenter, making the twins the only two returning members of the "core four" first introduced in Scream 5.
Other cast members announced for the seventh film in this long-running slasher franchise include Anna Camp, Mckenna Grace, Celeste O'Connor, Isabel May, and Sam Rechner.
Original Scream writer Kevin Williamson is directing, marking his first time in the director's chair for the film series. The script has been written by Guy Busick, who co-wrote the scripts for Scream 5 and Scream 6 with James Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt worked on the Scream 7 story with Busick.
Scream 7 will be released in theaters on February 27, 2026. Stay tuned to 1428 Elm for more details on the Scream franchise and all things horror.
