A super-powered Rowan Mayfair will return in Mayfair Witches season 3. 1428 Elm has learned that AMC renewed the series set in its popular and growing Anne Rice Universe.
The season 2 finale was full of dramatic developments, including Rowan drinking a chalice of blood that gives her even more unlimited power. Lasher is also officially dead, at least for now, and Rowan believes a war is coming.
Season 3 will get an exciting new location, none other than Salem, Massachusetts. Next season will also feature a behind-the-scenes shake-up, with Emmy-winning producer and writer Thomas Schnauz (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) joining as co-showrunner with Esta Spalding.
AMC teases that the third season will continue to expand the show's mythology, delving into the infamous town of Salem and its wealth of folklore. Fans can also expect season 3 to introduce new characters and "spellbound" families while tapping into Salem's history.
Mayfair Witches season 2 premiered this past January and wrapped with its March 2 finale. It remains among the top series on AMC+ in viewership and acquisition. Alexandra Daddario stars as Rowan Mayfair alongside Harry Hamlin, Tongayi Chirisa, Alyssa Jirrels, and more.
Upon being announced as showrunner, Schnauz said he's "incredibly excited to reunite with both AMC and Mark Johnson." He also says he has already begun working with Spalding on ideas for the third season, a "fantastic and fun" process that they hope "translates to the screen for fans and new viewers of the show."
The Anne Rice Universe on AMC continues its expansion with Mayfair Witches season 3 and Interview with the Vampire season 3 in development. Another series called The Order, based on the supernatural society, The Talamasca, is also in the works. It stars Nicholas Denton and Elizabeth McGovern and will debut this fall.
