With the successful Apple TV+ Original film The Gorge having released recently and performing well above expectations for the streaming service, more people are discovering the talented actress Anya Taylor-Joy. One of many modern day scream queens, Taylor-Joy has starred in her fair share of horror and thriller projects.

The Gorge (2025)

A deep and seemingly bottomless gorge becomes a source of much secrecy and fear as part of a clandestine government operation. Two elite snipers, former US Marine Levi (Miles Teller), and Lithuanian spy Drasa (Anya Taylor-Joy), receive an assignment to guard the gorge from their respective watchtowers for one year.
Their job is to keep whatever lies in the chasm from escaping. Levi and Drasa are expressly forbidden from communicating with one another, but they quickly break that rule as a romance forms between them. The Gorge is an unconventional romantic action-adventure movie that quickly turns into horror when Levi and Drasa slowly begin to uncover the true, dark nature of their assignment.
Last Night in Soho (2021)

Edgar Wright directed and co-wrote this dazzling and thrilling psychological film starring Thomasin McKenzie as a young woman named Ellie with the ability to time-travel to the 1960s where she becomes immersed in the world of a popular singer (Taylor-Joy). But the more time that Ellie spends in Sandie's orbit, the more she realizes that something sinister is happening in the singer's life and nothing is as it initially appeared.
The Witch (2015)

The Witch marked the feature directorial debut of Robert Eggers, an acclaimed filmmaker who would go on to make other films like The Northman, The Lighthouse, and Nosferatu. In this 2015 film, which was also Taylor-Joy's breakout role (her feature debut, too), she plays the oldest daughter of a Puritan family in 1630 New England. When her younger sibling disappears, Thomasin's parents blame her because she had been supervising him at the time. To make matters worse, suspicions of witchcraft plague Thomasin and the village as a whole.
Split (2017)

After The Witch, Taylor-Joy continued her career with this M. Night Shyamalan starring James McAvoy as a man with multiple personalities who kidnaps three teenage girls as part of the bidding for one of his dark and monstrous personalities. The film was secretly a sequel to Shyamalan's 2000 film Unbreakable and the story continued in the follow-up film Glass, in which Taylor-Joy returned to reprise her role.
The Menu (2022)

A 2022 breakout, The Menu has become one of the actress's most popular and beloved movies. In it, she and Nicholas Hoult play a couple invited to visit an exclusive restaurant on a remote island to feast on meals created by a legendary chef (Ralph Fiennes). But as the night progresses, the chef starts to break out multiple shocking surprises that lead to a truly twisted evening.
