There are certain companies known for producing and/or distributing horror content that consistently push the boundaries of the genre. Studios like A24, Neon, and IFC have developed loyal followings by backing films that range from mainstream thrill rides to daring, experimental nightmares. Whether it's a low-budget indie gem or a genre-defying spectacle, these companies have earned their place as reliable names for horror fans chasing their next jolt of fear.
At the beginning of this year, Neon kicked off its 2025 horror slate with a brand-new title releasing in theaters. This film had previously premiered at the Sundance Film Festival back in January 2024, but only those at the festival were able to experience it firsthand. Fortunately, Neon saw the movie's potential and acquired its distribution rights for $5 million. The indie powerhouse would then release the film in U.S. theaters in January 2025. That movie is Presence, a supernatural horror that received consistently positive reviews at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.
Of course, not everyone got the chance to see this film on the big screen during its theatrical run. Thankfully, those who haven't seen the movie yet won’t have to wait much longer because it's set to make its official streaming debut. As of May 22, Presence is only available to rent or purchase on digital platforms such as Prime Video, Google Play, Fandango at Home, and Apple TV+.

However, Presence will finally land on Hulu in the upcoming month, giving subscribers easy access to Neon’s first horror release of 2025. This move will allow a much wider audience to experience the film’s fresh take on the supernatural horror genre. The exact Hulu release date is Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
We knew Presence would eventually arrive on Hulu because of the streaming giant's multi-year agreement with Neon. This agreement guarantees that after their theatrical runs, Neon’s films will be available exclusively on Hulu, giving subscribers first access to some of the most innovative and exciting movies.
With Presence making its way to Hulu on June 3, there's a gap of nearly five months between when the movie was shown in theaters and when it becomes available for streaming. While this might seem like a big gap, nothing compares to how long it took Neon's Longlegs to finally land on Hulu.
It took seven painfully long months from the hit horror thriller's theatrical release for it to finally make its Hulu debut. It most likely took that long to come to streaming because of how big the movie was. In comparison, Presence arriving on Hulu in under five months feels relatively quick, and it's great news for horror fans eager to dive into Neon’s latest unsettling story without the long wait.
Steven Soderbergh helmed the supernatural horror from a screenplay written by David Koepp. At first glance, the story might sound like a classic haunted house tale. A family moves into a new home, and eerie events begin to unfold. However, Presence quickly subverts expectations by telling the entire narrative through the eyes of an unseen entity observing the family. This fresh perspective brings a haunting and distinctive twist to the supernatural genre.
Talented actors Lucy Liu, Chris Sullivan, Callina Liang, and Eddy Maday make up the Payne family, the suburban family who moves into their new home only to discover that it's haunted. Also in the cast are West Mulholland, Julia Fox, Natalie Woolams-Torres, and Lucas Papaelias.
