Prepare for intense action, gripping drama, and plenty of undead thrills because Netflix will be releasing a fan-favorite Korean zombie series on its platform tomorrow! Can you guess what show we're talking about?

No, it's not All of Us Are Dead. However, that's another great Korean zombie series. A second season of this show has been in the works at Netflix for a while now, but it's unknown when it will come out.

The zombie show that we'll be talking about in this article is Happiness. Unlike All of Us Are Dead, which is a Netflix original, Happiness is a show in which Netflix acquired the streaming rights. This means it won't stay on the streaming platform forever. So, it's imperative that you get to watching it as soon as possible.

Happiness is a Studio Dragon production. This well-known South Korean television production company is known for being behind other Korean horror series such as Sweet Home and Gyeongseong Creature. The zombie series aired back in 2021 on the South Korean TV network tvN and garnered strong ratings. Although it wasn't as popular as some other K-dramas then, it was generally well-received and garnered a strong and dedicated fan following.

It was praised for its unique premise, intense atmosphere, character-driven storytelling, strong performances, and its exploration of class divisions, power dynamics, and societal inequalities. The two main leads, Han Hyo-joo and Park Hyung-sik, received significant acclaim for their portrayals of their complex characters, Yoon Sae-bom and Jung Yi-hyun.

You might recognize Han Hyo-joo from her other role as Keunkal in Believer 2 and her role as Oh Yeon-joo in the Korean series W. Park Hyung-sik is best known for starring in other Korean shows like Strong Girl Bong-soon, Strong Girl Nam-soon and Doctor Slump.

Set in a high-rise apartment building during a viral outbreak that transforms people into blood-lusting, zombie-like creatures, we follow a group of tenants, including a police officer (Han Hyo-joo) and a detective (Park Hyung-sik), who must survive in the increasingly dangerous and tense environment as society collapses around them. This is the plot for Happiness.

Joining Han and Park in the cast are Jo Woo-jin, Seo Hyun-chul, Jung Jae-eun, Lee Jun-hyeok, Bek Hyunjin, Lee Ji-ha, Park Hee-von, Moon Ye-won, Park Joo-hee, and many others.

Unfortunately, the zombie series only consists of one season. There are a total of 12 episodes, with each episode a little over an hour. Take a look at the action-packed trailer below!

Happiness is slated to land on Netflix on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024. Will you be watching this Korean zombie show?
