Has Christmas come early? It seems like it has for horror fans, as Netflix just renewed its new hit animated horror series, Devil May Cry, for a second season. While not totally surprising given how it has performed on the streaming platform so far, it's still thrilling news for fans who were left wanting more of Dante’s demon-slaying adventures.
The eight-episode first season just premiered on Netflix on April 3, so the renewal arriving this quickly speaks volumes about the show's immediate impact. The animated horror series has been very successful and popular with viewers, and has even been a hit with critics, receiving mostly positive reviews. In fact, the show is currently sitting at the No. 7 spot on Netflix's top 10 TV shows list.
As reported by Netflix, the animated series ranked fourth in the streamer's global top 10 rankings when it debuted, with 5.3M views within the first three days of its release. That's pretty impressive if you ask me! It was even popular enough to appear in the top 10 in 87 different countries around the world. With all of these accomplishments, it was pretty much a no-brainer for Netflix to greenlight a second season of this visually appealing animation.

While nothing else is known about Devil May Cry season 2 at the moment besides its renewal, fans are eager to see what’s next for Dante. The first season ends in a way where more story could be told, setting the stage for even bigger challenges ahead for the demon hunter for-hire. Much like the first season, fans can expect more intense battles and demon-slaying action in season 2. We’re also likely to see Dante face off against new formidable threats. Additionally, we can expect another beautifully animated installment, with the stunning visuals that brought the first season to life continuing to impress.
Devil May Cry is Netflix's latest video game to television series adaptation. It's based on Capcom's popular action-adventure video game of the same name with Adi Shankar serving as showrunner and creator. Studio Mir is the animation studio behind the series. In the first season, Dante faces off against a terrorist known as the White Rabbit, a demon-obsessed individual driven by a vengeful desire to destroy humanity. But that wasn't his only challenge. He also had to contend with the relentless pursuit of the government organization Dark Realm Command (DARKCOM).
Johnny Yong Bosch voices the main role of Dante. The rest of the voice cast includes Scout Taylor-Compton, Hoon Lee, Chris Coppola, Kevin Conroy, and many others.
