Happy holidays! Christmas is here, and as much fun as it is rewatching Christmas classics like Elf, The Holiday, and Home Alone, sometimes it's also nice to shake things up with a horror movie. This year features one of the most anticipated horror films, with Robert Eggers' Nosferatu finally hitting theaters for the holiday.

A new slasher movie starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan is coming to select theaters, and Y2K will be available to watch at home. Peacock subscribers who missed Prey for the Devil or Five Nights at Freddy's will be happy to know both films start streaming this Thursday, December 26. Plus, a new episode of Dexter: Original Sin airs this Friday, so there are plenty of things to watch for those tired of festive content.

Y2K (PVOD, Dec. 24)

What better way to celebrate the end of the year than with a throwback movie rooted in nostalgia and a simpler era when we were worried about things like all of the computers getting corrupted when they switched from 1999 to 2000?

This disaster comedy film from Saturday Night Live's Kyle Mooney dropped in theaters earlier this month and will be available to rent or buy on PVOD this Christmas Eve. Currently, the title is available to pre-order for $24.99, so the rental price will likely be five dollars cheaper, $19.99.

Nosferatu (Theaters, Dec. 25)

After months of hype and anticipation, the latest film from acclaimed director Robert Eggers finally arrives in theaters this week. A remake of the classic 1922 German film, Nosferatu features Bill Skarsgård as the lecherous and terrifying Count Orlok.

The Count nurtures an obsession with Ellen Hutter (Lily-Rose Depp), the wife of realtor Thomas Hutter (Nicholas Hoult). Nosferatu has generated acclaim from critics who praise the film for its grotesque horrors and sensual yet disturbing tale of obsession. As menacing as it is captivating, this is the exact type of horror masterpiece one would expect from the director of The Witch and The Lighthouse.

Bloody Axe Wound (Limited Theaters, Dec. 27)

Bloody Axe Wound is a unique new coming-of-age slasher starring Sari Arambulo as teen Abbie Bladecut. Abbie lives in the fictional small town of Clover Falls and comes from a family with a bloody legacy. Her father makes a living from documenting real-life killings and selling them as films.

He expects his daughter to follow in his footsteps, but things become complicated when Abbie develops a crush on one of her planned victims, a classmate named Sam (Dexter: Original Sin star Molly Brown). Her dad makes it clear that if Abbie doesn't kill Sam, he'll do it himself. Imagine a horror movie following a famous slasher's daughter, and you've got Bloody Axe Wound, the latest from Shudder and RLJE Films. The movie will be in select theaters this Friday and should stream on Shudder later.
