Peacock is considering slipping back into the dark fairytale world of the supernatural drama series Grimm with a new movie.

According to a new report from Deadline, the streaming service is looking to continue with the series with a new movie, one that could potentially launch a franchise. The original series, which is loosely based on the classic Grimm's Fairy Tales by the Brothers Grimm, ran for six seasons and over 120 episodes on NBC from 2011 to 2017. At one point, the network considered a spinoff to explore the Grimm mythology further, but it never came to fruition.

The outlet reports several producers and creators from the original series, including showrunners David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf, are returning for the Universal Television reboot.

In the series, Nick learns that he is descended from a long line of guardians known as "Grimms," who are responsible for maintaining the balance between mythological creatures, a.k.a. Wesen, and humanity.

Deadline says details regarding the new storyline are being kept under wraps, but the reboot will be designed to entice old and new fans alike, meaning some connections to the original series along with a fresh angle so newcomers can also enjoy the reboot.

It will be interesting to see if any of the main characters from Grimm reprise their roles in the reboot. Since the show ended, Giuntoli has starred in other series such as A Million Little Things and Superman & Lois.

Grimm is more or less a police procedural series that dips into the occult, but its exploration of dark fairytales is what made the show so popular. Throughout its run, the series featured plenty of terrifying creatures, like the child-eating Aswang, the life-stealing Lebensauger, and countless other beasts of nightmare. It's a great companion series to something like Supernatural, with Grimm taking a more mythological approach, using different cultures and folklore to concoct interesting and unique monsters.

For those who haven't watched Grimm before, I recommend checking it out. The entire series is currently available to stream on Peacock and Prime Video. Stay tuned to 1428 Elm for more details on the Grimm reboot and all things horror!
