The world of Friday the 13th is getting a new expansion, and Peacock is pulling out all the stops. The much-anticipated prequel series, Crystal Lake, has just added three fresh names to its growing cast for its upcoming show, which fans believe will be a terrifying and character-driven return to Camp Blood.

Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, and Gwendolyn Sundstrom are the newest names added to the cast of Crystal Lake, joining Linda Cardellini, who was announced earlier and will be playing Pamela Voorhees, Jason Voorhees’ mother in the series. Scoggins is set to play Officer Dorf, a character who had a small role in the original Friday the 13th film but is expected to have a much bigger presence in this reimagined version. As for Kessler and Sundstrom, they will take on brand-new roles as Briana Brooks and Grace.

The cast of Crystal Lake is big and packed with talent, so we can expect both drama and bloody action. Devin Kessler is best known for her role as Afeni Shakur in the hit show Godfather of Harlem. Cameron Scoggins is no stranger to playing a cop; he’s taken on similar roles in shows like Shades of Blue, Nashville, and Boardwalk Empire. As for Gwendolyn Sundstrom, she may not be a household name just yet, but this rising star is already making waves with performances in Life Cycle 63 and I'm Beginning to See the Light.

Crystal Lake will take us back to the beginning, before the original slasher story we all know. It digs into the spooky stories and events that turned the campground into a place of horror, telling us how the whole thing with the hockey mask and machete really began.

The series is the brainchild of Bryan Fuller, the mind behind Hannibal and Pushing Daisies. He was set to be the showrunner, co-writer, and executive producer, but was later replaced by Brad Kane, known for his work on Welcome to Derry, Tokyo Vice, and more. The show is being produced by A24, marking the first time an indie studio has taken on a major horror franchise for television. A24 has a solid track record in the horror space, having produced critically acclaimed films like Ari Aster’s Midsommar and Hereditary, both of which racked up awards and praise for their fresh approach to the horror genre.
