It's time for the killer version of Winnie-the-Pooh to take a break and pass the murderous torch off to Piglet, you know, the lovable little pink piglet with anxiety? Yeah, he has a horror movie now thanks to the public domain and it will soon become available to rent or purchase on digital platforms, starting on June 2. "This isn't the Piglet you know; this Pork will chop you up," teases the film's tagline.

The film revolves around a group of girl friends gathering at a remote cabin to celebrate Kate's (Alina Desmond) 21st birthday. But the party doesn't go as planned. The girls happen to be situated within the Hundred Acre Wood, home to a merciless pig with intent to kill (and eat?) the cabin's visitors.

Watch the official trailer below.

As teased in the trailer, Piglet appears to have some kind of a deal worked out with the cabin's owner, who tells the deranged human-pig hybrid that he can "choose" whichever girl he wants and the rest will be shoved in a freezer, which obviously doesn't bode well for our characters.

The trailer also teases scantily-clad women, girls kissing, and brutal deaths for the women, which makes this low-budget indie slasher seem like a rather misogynistic relic of the past. But if you're into these nightmarish takes on classic and beloved characters, then by all means, give it a shot.

Since Piglet is a UK release, it might be limited in terms of where it is released. The Move Partnership is behind distribution and will be releasing it on Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Sky Store, Google, and YouTube.

Piglet was directed by Andrea M. Catinella and written by Harry Boxley. Besides Desmond, the film also stars Lauren Staerck, Valery Danko, Shayli Reagan, and Alexander Butler. Butler plays the menacing Piglet.

While Piglet isn't part of the Twisted Childhood Universe (TCU) produced by Rhys Frake-Waterfield and Scott Chambers, it certainly appears to share similar DNA. The TCU started with Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey and followed that up with a sequel. Subsequent films include Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare and the upcoming Bambi: The Reckoning. A crossover movie, Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, is also in the works.

Piglet is also featured in the Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey movies, where he's played by Eddy MacKenzie. The designs for this creepy version of the character are somewhat similar. Popeye the Sailor Man also received his own horror movie, Popeye the Slayer Man, recently from distributor Vantage Media.

Piglet releases digitally on June 2.
