17 best horror movies of the 2010s that are definitely worth a rewatch

We love all things horror at 1428 Elm, and we thought now would be the perfect time to take a look back at some of the best horror movies of the 2010s. This means we're looking at horror flicks that were released between Jan. 1, 2010, and Dec. 31, 2019.

Our list contains a little bit of everything, such as folk horror, supernatural horror, psychological horror, post-apocalyptic horror, etc. I'm sure you've probably already seen many of the films on our list, but we'd argue that each one is easily rewatchable.

Black Swan (2010)

Black Swan stars Natalie Portman as an ambitious, committed ballerina named Nina Sayers. As she prepares for the lead role in the production of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, she finds herself spiraling and losing her grip on reality. The intense pressure mounts, and her rivalry with a fellow dancer reaches its breaking point, ultimately causing her to descend into madness.

I Saw the Devil (2010)

I Saw the Devil centers around a vengeful widow and secret agent who goes on the hunt to track down the psychopathic serial killer who brutally murdered his fiancée. But instead of killing him as soon as he captures him, he decides to play a twisted game of cat and mouse, where he captures him, beats him, sets him free, and then repeats the cycle over and over again.

Prometheus (2012)

Serving as the fifth installment in the Alien franchise, this sci-fi horror film follows the crew of the spaceship Prometheus as they embark on a mission to a distant moon to investigate extraterrestrial beings called Engineers who are believed to have created humanity. But upon their arrival, they soon find themselves fighting for their lives when they end up encountering dangerous monstrous creatures.

The Conjuring (2013)

The Conjuring centers around paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren as they work to help a family being terrorized by a malevolent spirit haunting their secluded farmhouse in Rhode Island. The cast is made up of Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Ron Livingston, Lili Taylor, and many others.

You're Next (2013)

To celebrate their wedding anniversary and to reunite with their estranged kids, Aubrey and Paul Davison decide to invite them and their respective partners to their weekend estate. But things take a left turn when the estate comes under attack by a group of crossbow-wielding assailants wearing animal masks. Now, the Davison family must band together to survive.

Creep (2014)

Creep follows a struggling videographer who answers an online ad to film a day in the life of an eccentric man named Josef, who claims to have a terminal illness. However, as Josef starts exhibiting increasingly strange and erratic behavior, the videographer thinks he may have sinister intentions.

The Witch (2015)

Set in 1630s New England, The Witch revolves around a Puritan family who, after relocating to a remote farm in the woods, begin to unravel and turn on each other when the youngest child mysteriously vanishes and sinister events start to unfold.

The Wailing (2016)

When a remote Korean village is suddenly plagued by a series of murders and mysterious illnesses, it's up to police officer Jong-goo to solve the mystery before he loses his daughter, too. Kwak Do-won, Hwang Jung-min, Chun Woo-hee, and Jun Kunimura all star in this horror film.
