6 horror movies you can stream free on Pluto TV in June 2024
By Mads Lennon
Summer is almost here, which means streaming services are prepping their slate for the upcoming months to keep us entertained on those days too hot to go outside.
We're highlighting the horror movies slated to stream on the free, ad-supported service PlutoTV in June 2024. Among my personal recommendations are the creature feature Crawl, the 1982 classic Poltergeist, and the sci-fi horror Event Horizon.
Crawl (2019)
Alexandre Aja's tense creature feature set in Florida follows Kaya Scodelario's character, Haley, as she attempts to rescue her injured father after he gets trapped in the flood. Incoming floodwater is the least of their worries, as the pair must fend off a horde of alligators.
Event Horizon (1997)
An underrated sci-fi horror flick starring Laurence Fishburne and Sam Neill, Event Horizon follows a team dispatched to investigate a formerly missing spacecraft that suddenly reappears. Upon arriving at their destination, the team realizes that the horrors faced by the previous team are still very much present on the ship.
Single White Female (1992)
Single White Female is a classic '90s thriller that follows newly single Allison as she adapts to her new living situation with roommate Hedra. What starts as a budding close friendship transforms into a violent altercation when Allison reconnects with her ex-fiancé, sending Hedra into a jealous rage.
Poltergeist (1982)
No year was included in the listing, but I'm assuming it's the original 1982 version being added to Pluto. This Tobe Hooper-directed horror classic revolves around the Freeling family. Terrorized by unseen entities who initially begin their haunting by playfully communicating with the family via the television screen, things soon take a dark turn when the family's youngest daughter, Carol Ann, goes missing.
From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)
Robert Rodriguez directs this schlocky grindhouse flick about the bank-robbing Gecko brothers. When their latest heist goes awry, Seth and Richie hightail it for the Mexican border, kidnapping a family on the way and then holing up in a bar.
Unfortunately for them, the bar turns out to be a haven for vampires, and the brothers and their hostages enter a fight for survival. Sequels Texas Blood Money and The Hangman's Daughter will also stream.
Pet Sematary (2019)
A second adaptation of Stephen King's iconic 1983 horror novel, this version follows Dr. Creed and his wife and children as they relocate to a new home in rural Maine. Not long after moving, they find a mysterious burial ground hidden deep within the woods, housing an unspeakable evil. The 2019 one isn't the worst thing in the world (and better than the spinoff film Bloodlines), but it's not nearly as good as the 1989 adaptation.
The Disappointment's Room (2016) will also be added to PlutoTV in June, but that movie is so bad that I cannot, in good conscience, recommend it.
