A Good Girl's Guide to Murder ending explained: Here's who really killed Andie Bell
Wednesday star Emma Myers takes on a much different role in the new British mystery thriller series A Good Girl's Guide to Murder on Netflix. In the Netflix original, she plays a 17-year-old teen girl and true crime enthusiast named Pip Fitz-Amobi, who is determined to uncover the truth behind a local murder case that was closed five years prior.
In April 2019, popular high school senior Andie Bell went missing and was revealed later to be murdered by her boyfriend Sal Singh, who is believed to have confessed to the killing before committing suicide. Five years later, the town of Little Kilton is still haunted by the murder, including Pip, who was just a pre-teen when it happened.
Although the authorities closed the case after Sal's confession, Pip being the true crime enthusiast she is, doesn't believe he was the killer. She knew Sal when she was younger, and she can't believe he would commit such a crime. So, now as a senior in high school, she sets out to find the real murderer even if her snooping around puts her own life in danger.
Throughout the six-episode first season, we follow Pip as she tries to find out who killed Andie. Her quest leads her down many dead ends, but eventually, the killer is revealed, and it's not who she expected at all...
Spoilers ahead from A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 1!
Did Sal kill Andie?
No, Sal did not kill Andie. He was framed for her murder by English teacher Elliot Ward, who was scared that he would be found guilty of killing Andie. Elliot and Andie previously had a secret affair, and he was one of the last people to see her alive. After she went missing, Elliot knew that the cops would come looking for him. So, he decided to frame Sal for her murder. Sal didn't commit suicide like the police had thought, though. Instead, Elliot made it look like he did by drugging him before suffocating him to death. He then framed Sal for Andie's murder by sending a text from his phone confessing to the killing.
How did Andie Bell die?
Well, if we want to be technical, no one actually killed Andie. However, her younger sister, Becca Bell, and her former lover, Elliot Ward, played a part in her death. On the night Andie went missing, she visited Elliot to try to blackmail him into giving her money, but Elliot refused to do so. They got into a tussle that ended with Elliot accidentally pushing Andie into a countertop. Andie hits her head and suffers a bad injury, but she doesn't die. As Elliot goes to try to call the ambulance, Andie leaves his house to return to her home where she talks with Becca.
After telling Andie that she had been drugged and then raped by Max Hastings at a party, Becca asks Andie if she could go with her to the police to report him. However, Andie tells her she can't because she's the person who sold Max the drugs. To make matters worse for Becca, Andie then tells her that she's going to run away from home the next morning. Her reasoning being that she was tired of dealing with their controlling dad, who didn't want her and Sal together. Feeling betrayed and filled with anger, Becca starts pushing Andie, and Andie goes hurling into a cabinet in the kitchen.
Andie hits the back of her head hard on the cabinet, and blood starts trickling down as she falls to the ground. An unconscious Andie then starts choking on her own blood as Becca watches her die. Her earlier head injury that took place at Elliot's house, plus this new one, contributed to her death. Becca then takes Andie's body and dumps it in a well in a cave. Although Becca didn't actually kill Andie, she didn't try to help her when she was choking on her own blood either. So, if you want to put the blame on anyone, it should be Becca.
Who is the woman in Elliot's attic?
Her name is Isla Jordan. After Andie went missing, Elliot began spiraling. While he was out and about, he thought he had run into Andie in town, but it turned out to be a young woman named Isla. Isla was living rough, and Elliot invited her to spend the night at his place. No, this isn't the same place where he lives with his two daughters. It's their old home that he was supposed to have sold but didn't.
Later that night, Elliot confesses to Isla that he killed Sal. Isla then tries to escape, but Elliot catches her and traps her in the attic. He had been holding her hostage for years in fear that she would go to the authorities and tell them that he had murdered Sal.
Who killed Barney?
Don't you just hate when shows kill off animals? Well, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder did just that, which book fans should've seen coming in the show since it happens in the book. Barney was Pip's dog, who goes missing in episode 5, only to be later discovered dead from a hit and run. Becca is the person who killed Barney the dog. She's also the person who had been sending Pip the threatening texts.
