A new Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is opening in Naples, Florida, and it comes complete with Mini-Golf!

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is known as a top-notch theatre that honors the movie-going experience. The original location opened in Austin, Texas in 1997, where it began life as a second-run movie theatre. One of the first things that set it apart from other theatres was the fact that patrons could get food and drink service (including beer). Something else that sets Alamo Drafthouse apart is their strict “No talking / No texting” policy, a perk film lovers can truly appreciate. And although they do feature a preshow, it is free of ads.

The seating was set up much like a restaurant so the wait staff could easily navigate themselves around the patrons. So successful was the first location that the owners Tim and Karrie League, renovated a closed theater into a second Alamo Drafthouse. At this time, the second-run films ceased, and both locations shifted their focus to special programming (cult favorites, documentaries, independent films, etc.).

In the years since, the chain has expanded into Virginia, Colorado, New York, Missouri, California, Illinois, Washington D.C., Minnesota, Nebraska and North Carolina. Despite the fact that they filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March of 2021, they announced three months later that they were in the clear.

Now, the first Florida location of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will open its doors on April 29. The 11-screen theatre is located in Naples, Florida, and will include their first mini golf course, HappyLand Movie Miniature Golf, which will be located in the theatre lobby.

Patrons who visit the theater from April 29 – May second will get a 25% discount on select menu items, and will receive scratch-off cards with the opportunity to win prizes. They can also sign up for a season pass, which is a monthly service offering unlimited movies (up to one per day). Anyone signing up for the subscription within the location’s first month will get a second month free.

Patrons will also have the chance to play a part in Alamo’s signature parties, such as Jaws, Jurrassic Park and even a “Quote-Along” party.

Alamo’s founder Tim League says, “Bringing fun and whimsy to a night out at the movies has been our mission since we opened 28 years ago. Alamo Drafthouse Naples and HappyLand is a natural evolution in that sense, because what’s more fun than seeing a movie and then hitting golf balls between the legs of a giant gorilla?”

Alamo Drafthouse Naples is located in Mercato, a mixed-use retail center that totals 33,652 square feet.
