First-person horror games are one of the few things left that genuinely terrify me, so of course I'm excited for the upcoming single-player game A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead.

The official reveal trailer launched on July 2 and teases an incredibly tense and nerve-wracking experience where you play a young woman navigating the apocalyptic landscape while trying to remain utterly silent to avoid attracting the alien monstrosities that hunt using sound.

Developed by Stomind Games, who previously worked on titles like the Remothered games Tormented Fathers and Broken Porcelain, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead is a welcome pivot in the world of popular IP horror games because it's a narrative-focused, single-player experience.

Here's the official game description:

"'A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead' is a single-player horror adventure game inspired by the critically acclaimed blockbuster movie franchise that highlights a unique survivor story after an invasion of deadly creatures. In this exclusive spin-off, experience the journey of a young woman who must endure a treacherous apocalypse in the midst of interpersonal family conflicts, all while coming to terms with her own inner fears."

As someone who isn't fond of multiplayer, it's been frustrating to see cool games come out for Evil Dead, Texas Chainsaw, and Friday the 13th, only for all of them to be more focused on the multiplayer experience than storytelling, so A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead has officially shot up my wishlist.

Scheduled to release later this year, The Road Ahead is coming out at an ideal time, with the recently released A Quiet Place: Day One becoming one of the biggest horror hits of the year at the box office and with critics. It seems the franchise is still going strong and will continue to develop and branch out into additional mediums.

Saber Interactive will publish the game, which will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. You can wishlist it on your preferred platform now.
