A24 and AMC Theatres are teaming up this month to bring film fans another chance to watch four of their films on the big screen. AMC’s exclusive A Lover’s Series is bringing some of A24’s films back into theaters for one day only.
A24 is best known for their genre films such as Hereditary, X, Pearl, Bodies Bodies Bodies and Talk to Me, but not all of their projects are horror-related. A Lover’s Series is featuring the following films, which can only be seen in AMC theaters:
February 7: Pearl – In this prequel to Ti West’s gritty horror movie X, we go back in time to see the murderous Pearl (Mia Goth, in a tour de force performance) as a young woman in 1918. Pearl is living with her abusive parents while her husband Howard is fighting in World War I, and she is a woman on the edge of insanity. She dreams of being a big star, but after an audition gone wrong, she cuts loose in a bloody way.
February 14: A Ghost Story – “C” (Casey Affleck) is a man who has recently died, and his ghost decides to go home so he can comfort his grieving wife (Rooney Mara). Over time, her grief subsides and she moves on both emotionally and physically. Still in his old house, C observes the future occupants.
February 21: The Lobster – “In a dystopian society, single people must enter into a romantic relationship within a strict time limit of 45 days or be transformed into an animal of their choice.”
February 28: The Lighthouse – Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson star in this moody film, set in New England in the 19th century. A young man is being trained by an older man at a remote lighthouse. Both of the men begin to suffer mental breaks when they are trapped during a powerful storm. The Lighthouse was co-written and directed by Robert Eggers (The Witch).
