Emmy-nominated actor Theo James isn't slowing down when it comes to taking on new projects, and we couldn't be more elated about this. His most recent project was starring in the Netflix action-comedy series The Gentlemen. Now, he's confirmed to be starring in an upcoming supernatural horror film called The Monkey, which is slated for a February 2025 theatrical release. More details on this movie are below.

Why does the title of this movie sound familiar, you ask? Well, it's because it's based on the king of horror, aka Stephen King's 1980 horror short story of the same name. It's a film adaptation of this short story with Longlegs director Osgood Perkins signed on as director. He also penned the screenplay.

The story follows twin brothers Hal and Bill, who, after discovering their father's old monkey toy in the attic, begin to witness a series of brutal deaths unfolding around them. The brothers decide to get rid of the cursed toy and move on with their lives. But when inexplicable deaths start occurring again, they're forced to reunite to finally put a stop to the toy monkey once and for all. Let's hope they can do so before the cursed toy kills everyone close to them.

James plays the roles of both twins when they're older, while Sweet Tooth's Christian Convery plays the younger versions of Hal and Bill. Orphan Black's Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, Colin O’Brien, Rohan Campbell, and Sarah Levy also star in the film.

James Wan and Michael Clear are producing the horror flick for Atomic Monster, Dave Caplan for C2 Motion Picture Group, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones for Range Select, and Chris Ferguson for Odd Fellows. In addition, Fred Berger, Peter Luo, Nancy Xu, and John Friedberg are executive producing. Production has already wrapped on the film, and Neon will distribute it in the U.S. We previously learned that Neon had planned a 2025 theatrical release. Now, we know the official theatrical release date which is Feb. 21, 2025. Tickets aren't available yet, but they should be closer to the release.
