Alien television gets title, wraps filming, plus everything else we know so far

It's a good time to be an Alien fan. Not only do we get a new movie coming out this August from Fede Álvarez, but an FX series that serves as a prequel to Ridley Scott's 1979 film is also in the works, and apparently, filming has wrapped on the show, which will be titled Alien: Earth.
The news comes from showrunner Noah Hawley himself, who is best known for his acclaimed series Fargo and Legion, which were also both made for FX. Fargo just received 15 Emmy nominations for its fifth season and Hawley spoke with Variety about the series. The outlet also gave the opportunity to talk a little about Alien: Earth.
Hawley revealed they had finished filming and were now well into the post-production process. He teased that it's going to be "a very big show," which is exciting.
FX boss John Landgraf also spoke with Variety and said that he and the network are pretty "bullish" on Alien. They've been consistently watching cuts of the show each week as post-production is ongoing, and Landgraf says they've even requested that Hawley write "two seasons of it before returning to a possible sixth season of Fargo."
It sounds like everyone is confident about the show's direction, but little about its plot or characters has been released yet. Deadline previously confirmed that the series will star Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Timothy Olyphant, Kit Young, Adarsh Gourav, and David Rysdahl.
One of the lead characters, played by Chandler, is reportedly a Poor Things-like character named Wendy who has the body of an adult woman but the mental consciousness of a child. But that hasn't been officially confirmed yet.
All we know for sure is that the series, which is being executive produced by Ridley Scott, is set before the first Alien movie and will be the first story in the franchise to take place on Earth. The first Alien was set in the year 2122 and Alien: Earth takes place about 70 years before that.
Despite this, Hawley says the show will be stylistically more similar to the original two Alien films vs. Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, even though technically it takes place closer to the latter two in the timeline.
Alien: Earth is expected to premiere on FX in 2025. To stay up to date on thrillers, sci-fi, and horror, bookmark 1428 Elm and follow our Facebook page and Twitter account!
