Billy Crystal is haunted by his late wife, played by Emmy and Tony Award winner Judith Light, in the official trailer for the upcoming psychological thriller series Before, premiering late October exclusively on Apple TV+.

Apple didn't share many plot details about the show but the cast is absolutely stacked with stars. Besides Crystal and Light, the show also features Emmy-nominated actress Rosie Perez, Tony Award nominee Maria Dizzia, Jacobi Jupe, and Ava Lalezarzadeh.

Based on the trailer, Before centers around Crystal's character, a child psychiatrist named Eli. After his wife, Lynn (Light), passes away, Eli connects with a troubled little boy named Noah (Jupe), who appears to share an eerie connection with Eli that deepens the more time they spend together.

The trailer teases that Noah was previously in foster care with Perez's character and that he has anger issues. He's been expelled from multiple schools and suffers from hallucinations. He can't stop drawing photos depicting an old farmhouse, and Eli is determined to learn what happened there.

One chilling clip has Eli and Noah facing one another as Eli asks Noah what makes him mad. "People who do bad things." And then he follows that up with, "You know what you did." Uh-oh. There's a subtle implication throughout the trailer that Eli might have had something to do with his wife's death, though that could easily be a misdirect to keep viewers on their toes.

Before is a Paramount Television Studios production created by Sarah Thorp, who acts as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Crystal is also listed as an executive producer alongside Eric Roth, Adam Bernstein, and Jet Wilkinson.

The 10-episode limited series is being described as a "character-driven" project. New episodes air every Friday through December 20 on Apple TV+. On premiere day, October 25, viewers will get to watch the first two of the series.
