Oscar-winning actress Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) and Euphoria star Barbie Ferreira get tangled up in the dramatic world of restaurant management and professional cooking in House of Spoils. The suspenseful thriller will have its worldwide premiere at this year's Fantastic Fest, officially on Saturday, September 21. Then it will start streaming globally on Prime Video on October 3.

"House of Spoils follows an ambitious chef (Ariana DeBose) as she opens a restaurant on a remote estate where she battles kitchen chaos, crushing self-doubts… and a haunting presence who threatens to sabotage her at every turn," the logline reads.

Elle Magazine obtained an exclusive about the film, chatting with the movie's stars and writer-director duo Bridget Savage Cole and Danielle Krudy who previously worked together on Blow the Man Down.

They went all out on prepping for this film, assisting with hands-on training for its actors, and hiring acclaimed food stylist Zoe Hegedus as a consultant. A specialist in creating the mouthwatering dishes we see in film and television, Hegedus's previous credits include Denis Villeneuve's Dune films, Midsommar, and Poor Things.

"I trained in New York City for about a week with chef Ayesha Nurdjaja of Shukette (which is an amazing spot, by the way). It was terrifying, but I had a blast! She gave me a good jumpstart! Dang, can she run a kitchen!" DeBose told the outlet.

While the logline doesn't give away many plot details, Savage Cole did tell Elle that House of Spoils was a "demanding" shoot, which is why they were very particular about who they cast. The director says they needed someone up to the task, and DeBose was the perfect fit.

"It was like she’s in every scene. It’s dirty, it’s nasty. Some of these sets, we literally had her crawling in dirt over and over again one night and there was a lot we asked of her."

Ferreira plays another chef working at the restaurant and she brings a personal touch to the role as Savage Cole says Ferreira's mother and aunt are both chefs in real life.

House of Spoils also stars Arian Moayed (Succession), Amara Karan (The Darjeeling Limited), Mikkel Bratt Silset (Blade Runner 2099), and Marton Csokas (Cuckoo). In addition to co-directing and co-writing, Savage Cole and Krudy also serve as executive producers alongside Chris McCumber, Jeremy Gold, and Chris Dickie.

1428 Elm has received first-look images for the upcoming movie, the latest in a multi-year collaborative partnership between Blumhouse and Amazon MGM Studios.

Get your first look at DeBose as the character simply named "Chef" and Moayed as a restaurant patron named Andreas. There's also a photo showcasing what I presume is Hegedus's food styling. It shows Chef applying the finishing touches to what appears to be a vegetable dish.
