Guess what successful horror film franchise is getting another video game adaptation? The Halloween franchise! Video game publisher Boss Team Games, the company behind the survival horror game Evil Dead: The Game, is in the process of developing two new video games based on John Carpenter's 1978 slasher Halloween. More on these video game adaptations below.

This will be the second and third video game adaptation of Halloween. Previously, in 1983, Wizard Video released the horror video game Halloween for the Atari 2600. This game was also based on the 1978 horror classic. Now, we have two more Halloween video games to look forward to.

These games are reportedly being developed with the help of the producers of the Halloween franchise. In fact, Carpenter has even been reported to be "intimately involved" in one of the games' development, which will use Unreal Engine 5 as its game engine. However, both games are being developed in connection with Compass International Pictures and Further Front.

While each game's plot is unknown at the moment, an official press release shared by IGN says that the upcoming Halloween video games will allow players to "relive moments from the film and play as classic characters from one of the most iconic and important horror films of all time." Of course, this means players will get to play iconic babysitter Laurie Strode, who was portrayed by Jamie Lee Curtis in the 1978 slasher. But we're also hoping players get to play as the knife-wielding killer, The Shape, aka Michael Myers.

Carpenter expressed his excitement about the development of the new Halloween video games in a statement to IGN. Check it out below.

"As a huge gamer myself, I’m thrilled to help bring Michael Myers to life again in this game, and my hope is to scare you silly."

Boss Team Games CEO Steve Harris also discussed collaborating with Carpenter and Halloween producers to make the games.

"Everyone at Boss Team Games are huge fans of horror and Halloween obviously holds a special place in the hearts of all horror fans. Getting to work with iconic characters like Michael Myers and build on John Carpenter’s original vision is literally a dream come true. Everyone at Boss Team is thrilled and honored to be working with Malek Akkad and John Carpenter to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience that fans of the movie and video games will love."
